Today visit Greek monasteries and learn about two of Skiathos most famous sons. Meet your guide at your city centre hotel who will lead you down town to visit Alexandros Papadiamantis’s house. Papadiamandis was a very special Greek writer, born on the island. The old house where he lived has been transformed into a museum celebrating the authors’ life. After, a walk through the upper west part of Skiathos will follow. This is the oldest part of Skiathos and the narrow streets give it a romantic atmosphere. The first monastery you will visit is Moni Evangelistrias. The monastery was once home to 70 monks, but now only 2 do the chores, including wine-making. Next it’s onto Panagia Kounistra, an exquisite 17th century monastery with a rich historic past, whose occupants have included the famous monk Dionysios. After the monastery tour concludes you will be transferred back to your hotel.
