Day 1: Reykjavik

For your added comfort, we will have an English speaking assistant waiting for you outside of customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation.

A welcome package with a city map, and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

Take time to explore Reykjavik at leisure. Surrounded by sea, its waterfront paths are perfect for a leisurely stroll, some jogging, cycling or rollerblading. The city's northern waterfront is a popular area, with a beautiful view of Reykjavik's landmark mountain, Mt. Esja.  The city is an intimate size with a big personality and some striking landmarks, including mountains, beautiful buildings both old and modern, a lake and intriguing sculptures. City Hall is an impressive building on the northern shore of Lake Tjornin; stark and modern, it is the neural centre of Reykjavik, connecting nature, water and bird life to the centre of town. Hallgrimskirkja church, the largest church in Iceland, is Reykjavik's main landmark and its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city.  Hofdi House, built in 1909, might be one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Reykjavik. It is best known as the location for the 1986 summit meeting of presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbatsjov, a historical event that effectively marked the end of the Cold War. Videy Island is a unique site that combines history, culture and nature, and is only a few minutes away from the city by boat. Archaeological excavations have disclosed the fact that the island was inhabited already in the 10th century. In more modern times, the Imagine Peace Tower was inaugurated on the island and is dedicated to the memory of John Lennon on what would have been his 67th birthday.

Day 3: Reykjavik

Take a half day shared tour today, explore a hidden world in and under the lava field in the Blue Mountains located a half an hour from Reykjavik. Walking down into the lava and discovering the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past is a trip that everyone can undertake. The Leiðarendi cave is a perfect example of an Icelandic lava tube and a unique experience. As you crawl and walk on a journey beneath the surface on your underworld adventure you will see the magical rock formations left behind in the last volcanic eruption. In winter the cave is likely to be filled with glistening icicles of all shapes and sizes, a sight not soon forgotten. Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves are recommended as well as good hiking shoes. This is an adventurous trip for those that are not afraid of the dark and want to experience first hand how Iceland was created.

Enjoy a mysterious trip, on a dark night, any time from the onset of autumn darkness until the light nights of spring, you can witness one of the nature's most spectacular displays; the phenomenon which is called the Northen Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, this is a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colors across the Arctic sky. The Northern lights originate from the sun, where large explosions and electronic storms throw flares and solar particles deep into space. These clouds of solar particles are caught by the Earth's magnetic field on the south and north poles. The solar particles collide with the atmospheric gases and create this wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights.
