Varmahlid Hotel (3*)

Hotel Varmahlíð's 19 comfortable rooms can accommodate nearly 40 people in all. Every room has its own toilet and shower, and is equipped with a television, alarm clock radio, coffee/tea facilities and hair dryer. Not only do photos of Skagafjörður beautify the walls, but most rooms also provide a superb view over the surrounding countryside. The rooms vary in size, ranging from singles to large family rooms for up to five people. We can provide children's beds on request.

The hotel restaurant is pleasant and well-lit. The dining room, which was recently renovated and seats around 80 people, is very attractive, often with photography or other artworks exhibited on the walls. The Hotel Varmahlíð restaurant is open daily from 15 May to 15 September, offering soup and bread, a salad buffet and other light meals at lunchtime. Enticing à la carte offerings appear on the evening menu, with top-notch dishes from the Skagafjörður Food Chest. At other times of the day, the restaurant invites you to drop by, have a wonderful cup of Lavazza coffee and find out what is available to go with it.

In the vicinity of Varmahlíð you can enjoy an exciting range of recreation, including walks and river rafting together with equestrian displays and horse riding. You can visit the turf church at Víðimýri and the museum in the old turf farmstead at Glaumbær, as well as other exhibitions and museums, for instance in the town of Sauðárkrókur.
