Get familiar with a modern Greenlandic town north of the Polar Circle and experience the unique Disko Bay. The Ilulissat Ice Fjord is a wonder of the world which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Based in the town of Ilulissat, you can experience calving glaciers and gigantic icebergs, view majestic icebergs situated in the fiord right outside the town which can be experienced at close range on a midnight cruises or during full day excursions where you can cruise close to the impressive glacier of Eqip. Options abound from visiting isolated settlements, to fishing, taking a whale safari, photo sightseeing and helicopter trips over Ilulissat ice fjord.

Relax on your airport transfer in Reykjavik with a private vehicle and driver. Please note that a surcharge may be post billed to you if you require a transfer after 8pm or before 7am.
A welcome package with your vouchers, a city map and any other touristic information that you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.
Accommodation: Bjork (3*) The Bjork (3*) is a modern hotel perfectly located a few minutes' walk from Reykjavik city centre and the main shopping street. The main bus terminal Hlemmur is very close-by as is the Kringlan shopping mall. Hotel Björk offers 55 spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, all equipped with private facilities, hair dryer, telephone, satellite TV and radio. For something to eat why not pop into the Potturinn og Pannan restaurant for a delicious selection of traditional and international cuisine prepared using the freshest of local produce.

Sleep in this morning and relax at your hotel.
Spend the afternoon on a shared tour where, after being picked up from your hotel, you will encounter a cross-section of Iceland's most visited natural and geological phenomena. The world-famous Geysir geothermal field is highlighted on this tour as well as Gullfoss, the queen of Icelandic waterfalls. At the end of the tour you will make a quick stop at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where two of the earth's tectonic plates meet.

Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum
Day 3: Reykjavik
Lush valleys and lava fields with soft moss, abundant birdlife, diverse flora, craters and salmon rivers characterize the West part of Iceland. Experience the full scenery of Snæfellsnes Peninsula and take a short cruise in the amazing Breidafjordur bay. Enter a world of thriving bird and marine life. A highlight of the boat tour is when a net is hauled in and everyone can taste the shellfish and sea-urchin roe. After reaching Stykkishólmur and enjoying the boat tour (approx 2,5 hours), we travel along the coast passing through charming fishing villages with a stop at Djupalonssandur and Arnarstapi before returning to Reykjavik.
The boat tour depends on weather and birdlife is limited during late summer months. Some walking is required on this excursion.

Realx on your flight fro Reykjavik to Ilulissat. The flight time is approximately 3 hr and 15 mins.
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland, and the world's most northern national capital. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói Bay. It is the heart of Iceland's economic and governmental activity. Today, Reykjavík is the only metropolitan area in Iceland. As it is only slightly south of the Arctic Circle, Reykjavik receives only four hours of daylight on the shortest day in winter. During the summer, the nights are almost as bright as the days. It has continued to see population growth in past years as well as growth in areas of commerce and industry.
Upon arrival at Ilulissat, you will be met by a local representative and transfered to your hotel to check in.
You'll be briefed by your local guide before being brought on a guided walking tour of Ilulissat this afternoon.

Enjoy the day at leisure today.
Choose from many optional activities today depending on your interests. Options include whale watching, fishing, visiting a hunter's settlement, meeting locals with a home visit, Taking a walk along the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord, taking a midnight cruise, enjoying a helicopter ride to get a bird's eye view of the area and glaciers, or visiting the Inuit settlement of Ataa. In the Summer the midnight sun and the warm red colours reflecting in the gigantic icebergs is a fantastic sight. Take a night-time cruise between the icebergs and enjoy a late Martini on "the real rocks"! The season for the midnight sun is approx. 22May - 24July. In Winter the cruise provides the perfect opportunity to get close to these gigantic sculptures created by nature. The cruise is operated only when open water.

You will be transfered the short distance to the airport in time for your flight.

Ilulissat is a town in the Qaasuitsup municipality in western Greenland, located approximately 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. With the population of around 5000 people, it is the third largest settlement in Greenland after Nuuk and Sisimiut. In direct translation, Ilulissat is the Greenlandic word for "the icebergs". Ilulissat is Greenland's most popular tourist destination on account of its proximity to the picturesque Ilulissat Icefjord. Tourism is now the town's principal industry.

VISA/PASSPORT
Iceland is a party to the Schengen Agreement. As such, U.S. and Canadian citizens may enter for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the period of stay.

- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 121 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 91-120 days will be subject to loss of 40% of program price. 90 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
