Day 6: Sorrento - Capri

Today, why not explore the beautiful isle of Capri?

Just off the coast of Naples and Salerno, between Cape Miseno and Amalfi, a great rock soars like a dream, lost in the cobalt blue sea that surrounds it. This Mediterranean jewel is the island of Capri. The intoxicating fragrance of flowers, delicate splashes of colour, recollections of a millennial past and a peaceful charm, shattered only by the shrill cry of seagulls, are just some of the magical qualities of this mythical isle.

It is very easy to catch a hydrofoil (type of boat) from the pier in Sorrento, taking 20-25 minutes. On arrival, Capri Town can also be reached via a short ride on the Funicular (train) from the Port area.

Revel in the breathtaking views upon Mont Solaro - the highest place on the island (589 metres above sea level). You have the choice of either walking there, by taking the narrow street at the beginning of Viale Axel Munthe, or by taking the chairlift. Should you wish to relax and enjoy the splendid view of Anacapri and the gulf of Naples, the chairlift is a great option. The chairlift station can be accessed near Piazza Vittoria.

Take a 1 hour walk to view one of the most beautiful walks on the island. Admire the lonely Church of S.Maria in Cetrella. Alternatively, it is a 12 minute chairlift ride from Piazza Vittoria. While in Anacapri, consider visiting the villa San Michele, located on the north-eastern side of 'Anacapri, 327 metres above sea level. This is where an ancient Roman imperial villa was, whose ruins were preserved by Axel Munthe. They are now to be found in the garden.

Note: Hydrofoil costs approximately 12 Euros per person. A ticket needs to be purchased at the ticket office before boarding the Funicular.

My trip to Scotland was absolutely wonderful. All the hotels were perfectly located, clean, and had wonderful amenities. The guides were exceptional and really knew Scotland and so much of the history. My Kensington representative, Lynne, was very helpful, very responsive, and was tremendously patient while I made numerous changes to the itinerary. It was a superb experience and one that I will never forget.

My husband and I had the time of our lives in the UK and Ireland! The tours that were set up for us were exactly what we hoped for and more. We learned so much and saw so much! Very impressed! I have already told others about Kensington tours. If you book, you won't be disappointed! Thank you, Kevin!

Our tour guide in Roma,Francesco, was the best guide we ever had on this and our last trip that was provided by Kensington. Our other guides were also very good, but Francesco was outstanding.

Our guides were excellent. Noel Clawson in Wales was friendly, knowledgeable, and just a pleasure to be around. Glen Jones for our day with him was also excellent and I would highly recommend a guided tour of London. Much more efficient than the hop on/hop off tour.

All of the guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and conducted themselves in a professional manner. Both Dino Quaas and Andreas Zurner were extremely helpful and added significantly to the tour.

Our honeymoon that was setup and organized by Kensington Tours was absolutely amazing. All the details were taken care of and made our trip pleasant and stress free. Our accommodations were top notch with beautiful views located close to our destinations. Our guides and trip advisors were very knowledgeable. I would recommend Kensington tours to all my friends and family for future use as a travel agency as well as they will be our first choice in our future travel plans.
