Rome & Area
Amalfi Coast & Islands
It should come as no surprise that some of the world’s greatest works of art were born in a country whose landscapes seem painted rather than grown.
Experience a country where the passage of time has had little effect on the culture or landscape. Immerse yourself in the masterful artworks, striking architecture and expansive vistas and fall in love every half hour. Ramble through charming rustic villages, elegant city centers and old medieval towns. Visit world-famous museums, explore ancient Roman ruins, and sip cappuccinos in quaint cafes. In the evenings, relax in deluxe accommodations with sumptuous furnishings.
Tour the Vatican and Sistine Chapel which house some of the most important works of art, including the magnificent fresco of “The Last Judgement” by Michelangelo. Take a peek inside The Colosseum, walk the Spanish Steps and toss a coin into the famous Trevi Fountain. A short journey through the idyllic countryside and you arrive at the Amalfi Coast. Gaze upon charming seaside villages adorned with lemon and orange groves, and wonderful lush gardens that continue right down to the sea. A half day walking tour through Florence will bring you to the Uffizi Gallery, Signoria Square and Ponte Vecchio. Head to Venice and explore the most romantic city in the world. As the sun dips behind the bright pastel buildings, you’ll wish you never had to leave.

Rome is a great place for shopping. There are five main shopping areas: Spanish Steps & Via dei Condotti - This street is one of the richest streets in Italy and one of the best streets for shopping in Rome. The Via Dei Condotti is home to Italy's top designer stores. Via Del Corso – This busy pedestrian street runs from Piazza del Popolo down to Piazza Venezia. It is home to the famous shops like the Ferrari flagship store and Swarowski Crystal. Trastevere – This rather bohemian area of the city with its many winding streets is great for shopping and getting lost in. Be sure to check out the outdoor food market in Piazza San Cosimato where locals bargain with the vendors (7am -2pm). Viale Marconi and Porta Portese- Viale Marconi is very good for shopping and is particularly popular with young trendy Romans. A bit out from the city centre, it can be reached by talking the Metro Line B to Marconi. It is about 15 minutes away from the Coliseum. Porta Portese is the famous Roman flea market which takes place every Sunday from 8am until about 2pm. Another place of interest for food and market lovers is the Piazza Vittorio where a mesmerizing array of fresh foods, fruits, fish and meat, run by people from all over the world is displayed. Piazza Navona & via del Governo Vecchio – The well-known Piazza Navona is a great place for art lovers, as the surrounding streets contain lots of art galleries and antique shops.
The tour begins by coach passing through Piazza della Repubblica and following the ancient Aurelian walls, which once surrounded the ancient city. On arrival at the Vatican Walls, your guide will then lead you into the Vatican Museums taking the beautiful Spiral staircase and continuing through the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving in the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement by Michelangelo.
For your convenience, the tour includes hotel pick-up and entrances to the churches mentioned. Since there will be various pick-ups within the city centre, you will be given a pick-up time range. Please be in the hotel lobby/reception for this time. At the end of the tour, there are various central drop-off points: Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia, Piazza della Repubblica and Termini Station. Please note that shared tours can have up to approximately 50 people (depending on the number of people that have signed up for the tour on the particular day), and are carried out in a number of languages. The group may be divided out into smaller groups so the tour is led in one language or kept as one larger group (in which case the tour will be led in various languages).

Meet your private driver at the hotel and drive to visit the nearly 2,000 year old ancient ruins of Pompeii where you will meet up with a private local English speaking guide for a tour. Pompeii was buried in one of the most disastrous volcanic eruptions in history, destroyed by the still-active Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The city had been forgotten until it was accidentally rediscovered in the 18th century. The ruins of the dead city are deeply moving, still casting visitors into deep silence. You'll have an impressive view of Vesuvius from the ruins of Pompeii, as you walk around the site. Return to your hotel. (Entrance fee to Pompei included).
Today, why not explore the beautiful isle of Capri?
Just off the coast of Naples and Salerno, between Cape Miseno and Amalfi, a great rock soars like a dream, lost in the cobalt blue sea that surrounds it. This Mediterranean jewel is the island of Capri. The intoxicating fragrance of flowers, delicate splashes of colour, recollections of a millennial past and a peaceful charm, shattered only by the shrill cry of seagulls, are just some of the magical qualities of this mythical isle.
It is very easy to catch a hydrofoil (type of boat) from the pier in Sorrento, taking 20-25 minutes. On arrival, Capri Town can also be reached via a short ride on the Funicular (train) from the Port area.
Revel in the breathtaking views upon Mont Solaro - the highest place on the island (589 metres above sea level). You have the choice of either walking there, by taking the narrow street at the beginning of Viale Axel Munthe, or by taking the chairlift. Should you wish to relax and enjoy the splendid view of Anacapri and the gulf of Naples, the chairlift is a great option. The chairlift station can be accessed near Piazza Vittoria.
Take a 1 hour walk to view one of the most beautiful walks on the island. Admire the lonely Church of S.Maria in Cetrella. Alternatively, it is a 12 minute chairlift ride from Piazza Vittoria. While in Anacapri, consider visiting the villa San Michele, located on the north-eastern side of 'Anacapri, 327 metres above sea level. This is where an ancient Roman imperial villa was, whose ruins were preserved by Axel Munthe. They are now to be found in the garden.
Note: Hydrofoil costs approximately 12 Euros per person. A ticket needs to be purchased at the ticket office before boarding the Funicular.

This guided tour ensures that you visit some of the many landmarks and sites that have made Florence a global tourist hub, and one of Italy’s most beautiful cities. This walking tour begins with a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, boasting some true masterpieces of art including Raphael’s “Madonna of the Goldfinch” and Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Annunciation.” The tour continues with a walk through the Signoria Square to marvel at the re-created duplicate of Michelangelo’s statue of “David.” Next is a visit to the elegant Ponte Vecchio, which translates to “old-bridge,” dating back to 1345, this bridge was actually built to replace the once previous bridge structure that was unfortunately swept away during a vicious flood. Along either end of the bridge, take this opportunity to view, and purchase if you’d like, some of the many items for sale including souvenirs, snacks and jewelry. Your final visits on this tour include stops at the 14th century Cathedral Square to view the Duomo, the Baptistery and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Pre-booked entrance fee to Uffizi Gallery included.
From posh designer brands like Armani, Gucci, Versace and Ferragamo to locally created hand-crafts, souvenirs, quality leathers and traditional clothing, the city of Florence is a never-ending dream for shopping enthusiasts. For those searching for ancient relics and traditional crafted antiques, Via Maggio is the street for you. The shops and merchants on this street boast numerous "Objects d'Art" and furnishings that are sure to create an atmosphere straight out of the 16th century. Via del Tornabuoni is considered Florence's 5th Avenue, featuring shops lined with best quality leather products, elegantly expensive shoes, and modernly stylish clothing boutiques. It is here where you'll find all the “big brand names” products as well as the posh, and potentially upcoming Italian styles. Besides the traditional shops, Florence also boast some of Italy's best open-air markets including the centralized Market of San Lorenzo, the New Market located under the 16th century Loggia del Porcellino, and the Flea Market at the Piazza Santa Croce.

Consider taking a private gondola ride finishing at a beautiful Venetian restaurant with a private boat entrance, wander the streets with a personal guide to show you the sites, and take a private boat to see the stunning islands of Murano and Burano or to lesser well known areas in the Venetian lagoon. For those looking at something outside of the city, a visit to the romantic city of Verona or a half day shared tour to the outskirts of Venice to enjoy some wine tasting among the ancient Venetian vineyards is highly recommended. Please speak to your Sales Advisor if any of these options are of interest.
Meet with the English-speaking guide at the hotel. See the humbler side of Venetian life, in the narrow, tightly packed streets and squares of Santa Croce. San Giacomo dell’ Orio, a focal point of this quiet and ancient quarter, is a beautiful parish church founded in the 9th century and rebuilt in 1225. You will view from the outside the campanile, the Basilica ground plan and Byzantine columns mixed with new elements and decorations from Gothic and later Renaissance additions. Walk along the neighborhood’s ‘palazzi’ lining the Grand Canal until you reach Ca’Pesaro Museum, a palace built for the Pesaro Family and masterpiece of Baldassarre Longhena. Today it features a permanent exhibition of work by artists such as Bonnard, Matisse, Miro, Klee, Klimt and Kandinsky, in addition to works by Italian artists of the 19th and of the 20th centuries. Next, your guided walk will continue to the famous Rialto Bridge, passing through the lively Rialto market. Discover San Giacomo di Rialto, the original site of the oldest church in Venice, founded in the 5th century (outside visit). From the top of the Rialto Bridge, you will have the opportunity to see the magnificent view of the Grand Canal with its stunning palazzo architecture. Your guide will then lead you through the spacious square of San Polo where, as far back as the 15th century, it was the venue for festivities, balls and ceremonies. "Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
