Amalfi Coast & Islands
An exclusive itinerary taking in the best of the Amalfi coast!
Upon arrival at Naples, be whisked off to the Amalfi coast, stopping en route to view the fascinating site of Pompeii in the company of an Expert Guide. Enjoy a number of exclusive excursions and tours such as a private tour of the Amalfi coastline, a private tour of Capri with an optional helicopter flight from Capri back to the mainland, and an optional afternoon sailing aboard a traditional wooden vessel on the Mediterranean.
Of course, you will want to have some time at leisure to relax in the state of the art spa in the hotel and make some time for exploring at leisure or a round of golf perhaps. Consider adding another few days in this little piece of paradise!
Enjoy a private vehicle transfer with an English speaking driver from Naples to the Amalfi coast. Taking time to stop off at Pompeii for a 2 hour visit with an English-speaking guide, you will absolutely enjoy the site. Walk through some of the ancient streets of Pompeii where you can see the baths, forums and villas built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 BC. Marvel at the fabulously preserved Fresco paintings which adorn the walls and floors of the villas. Even if your interests do not lie in history, you will still be incredibly impressed by this massive archaeological site. This site includes the Amphitheatre, Gymnasium, House of Menandro, The Grand theatre and Small theatre, Gladiators Barracks, Thermal baths and House of Vetti. You will then continue en route to the Amalfi coast. For your convenience, this tour includes the entrance into Pompeii.
A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.
You will be picked up from hotel for a full day private tour of the Amalfi coast with an English speaking guide, private vehicle and driver. There are lots of interesting villages and sites in the area that are worth exploring including Ravello & Amalfi and Cetara. Sorrento overlooks the Bay of Naples as the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoints allow sight of Naples itself, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive (connecting Sorrento and Amalfi) is a narrow road that threads along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea. The picturesque town of Ravello, some 5km from Amalfi, has a number of must-see sites including the Villa Rufolo, from the XII century, built by the Rufolo's family and Villa Cimbrone, due to their splendor and decor. Both villas have an amazingly beautiful garden to visit. Indeed, from Villa Cimbrone, you can admire one of the best panoramic views of Italy, on all the Amalfi Coast, and on the Coast of Cilento. The pretty town of Amalfi features a series of white houses, most with barrel vault ceilings and built on terraces within a picturesque web of alleys and stairways. The main monument and symbol of the city is the Cathedral of St. Andrew, preceded by an imposing staircase. Further along the coast lies the town of Cetara. For centuries, it was influenced by the financial and spiritual fortunes of the Benedictine abbey in Cava dei Tirreni; nowadays it is dominated by its busy fishing harbor. Depending on time and your preference, the day will be spent visiting these beautiful towns and stopping off at scenic points along the way. Entrance to Chiostro Paradiso included.
Enjoy lunch at leisure in either the towns of Amalfi or Ravello. A good spot in Amalfi is Pizzeria da Maria- indeed it has been listed as as one of the ten best pizzerias on the Amalfi Coast in more than 1 guidebook. In addition to a selection of pizzas, a wide variety of seafood dishes, and a few pasta dishes are served. Alternatively, Il Mulino, a 200m walk uphill from the town square is another good choice. if you feel like a fine dining experience for lunch (or indeed for dinner), the Villa Cibrone is an excellent choice and is in a fantastically beautiful location. Come before 6pm and you can stroll through the property's extensive landscaped gardens, and take in the marvellous sweeping views of the bay. This place comes highly recommended!
Meet your private driver at the hotel for your private transfer towards the jet foil loading dock. You'll join a jet foil and sail across to the island of Capri for the start of an unforgettable day trip to Capri. For so small an island, about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide, Capri has had much said, sung and written about it. On the way, you will get to enter the magnificent Blue Grotto, a renowned sea cave on the coast of Capri. The brilliant blue colour of the water is illuminated by sunlight reflecting through and underwater cavity, through the sea water. Upon your arrival at the island, you will be met by a private driver and English speaking guide, where you will then go down to Capri town which is very chic with shops, hotels and restaurants lying along winding streets. The main square Piazza Umberto has a pretty white church and several open-air cafes where you can sit and watch the world drift by. Leading off the square are medieval looking alleyways and arcades full of shops selling the handcrafts of the island such as clothing, jewelery made from coral and gold, shoes and ceramics. Admire the colorful gardens of Augustus overlooking the famed Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Piccola where Gracie Fields once lived. You will visit Villa San Michele, a beautiful early 20th century residence built on the ruins of the Roman Emperor Tiberius' villa, with commanding views of Capri town and it's harbor. Enjoy the relaxed pace of your day before you depart back to port the same route that you came. (Includes: transfer to /from jetfoil, jet foil return ticket, Blue Grotto, Augustus Garden, Villa San Michele entrance).
You will be driven from Positano, and meet your English speaking guide on the way heading first to Mount Vesuvius where you will climb (approximately 45 minutes), accompanied by your guide, and walk around the crater at 3,900 feet. From the summit you'll have panoramic views of the picturesque Bay of Naples from east to west. Peering down into the depths of the crater, you may see plumes of steam issuing from the sleeping, but still active, volcano. You will then head on to the winery Vesevus where you will enjoy tasting 5 different local wines accompanied with salami, cheese, olives, seasonal vegetables, pasta. You will also be able to enjoy a Vesuvian oil tasting with bruschette and local Napoletean pastries, paired with a pera grappa of local production. Return to hotel. (Includes: entrance Mount Vesuvius, wine tasting 5 wines, cold cuts, pasta, pear grappa, Napoletean pastries).
The town's elegant shop windows are full of displays of brightly coloured robes, bags, and Bermuda shorts - all made in linen and cotton. It's a great place for shopping! Abandon your shoes and purchase a pair of hand crafted sandals - made to measure while you wait! The caves that are close to Positano make an excursion out on the water all that much more interesting. Please speak to your Sales Advisor if you would like to have a boat trip arranged for you.
Enjoy a private transfer with your own vehicle and driver to Naples airport. Transfer time is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

"All of our guides were beyond fabulous! Our time in Dublin was much too short, would have loved to stay there at least one more full day. Would recommend extending this package to 15 days for any future visits. The train to Edinburgh was super! Beautiful scenery and great steak pies!"

"Overall, our tour in Spain was very enjoyable, and well planned and executed. Our private tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Virginia, tour guide for royal palace ruins outside of Cordoba, was also excellent. In Seville, we went to the Flamenco Show/dinner, and the Flamenco was outstanding!"

"My husband and I took a 3 week vacation to southern Europe and North Africa and had a great time. All the guides were very knowledgeable and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The arrangements made by Kensington went off without a hitch. This is our second trip with Kensington (we went to Peru in 2009) and we will certainly book with them again."

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
