Amalfi Coast & Islands
Only Italy could have created such a whimsical, seductive and vibrant wonder as the Amalfi Coast.
Italy is a land of passion and you’ll feel yours rising as you explore its vibrant cities, Renaissance palaces and whimsical natural landscapes. Stroll through narrow cobblestoned streets that make their way past quaint cafes and bakeries. Sip a cappuccino while modern day Romans pass on scooters and fade into the dynamic urban scenery beyond. Take a trip to the coast and be seduced by its charming coves, deep fjords and cliffs that plunge into the sea. At night, relax in deluxe accommodations with modern amenities and all the comforts of home.
Head out for a historical walk through Rome and visit the Spanish Steps and Colosseum. Toss a coin into the famous Trevi fountain and be humbled by a tour of the Vatican. You'll be whisked to the Amalfi Coast, and visit Pompeii for a guided tour. Once on the coast, admire some of the best panoramic views of Italy. Explore the island of Capri and take the chairlift to the top of Mont Solaro, the highest point on the island. A walk along the beach at sunset will have you wishing you never had to leave this magical country.
Enjoy a personalized vacation that best suits your needs, developed by one of our experienced destination experts. Relax during your trip with our 24/7 support and expert local guidance.
For your added comfort, you will have an English-speaking assistant waiting for you outside of customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation.
A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.
Discover "The Eternal City" of Rome on foot today during this 4 hour guided tour accompanied by a local expert. Be sure to have your camera ready as many photo opportunities present themselves including stops at the Spanish Steps, The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon and Navona Square.
The tour begins by coach passing through Piazza della Repubblica and following the ancient Aurelian walls, which once surrounded the ancient city. On arrival at the Vatican Walls, your guide will then lead you into the Vatican Museums taking the beautiful Spiral staircase and continuing through the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving in the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement by Michelangelo.
For your convenience, the tour includes hotel pick-up and entrances to the churches mentioned. Since there will be various pick-ups within the city centre, you will be given a pick-up time range. Please be in the hotel lobby/reception for this time. At the end of the tour, there are various central drop-off points: Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia, Piazza della Repubblica and Termini Station. Please note that shared tours can have up to approximately 50 people (depending on the number of people that have signed up for the tour on the particular day), and are carried out in a number of languages. The group may be divided out into smaller groups so the tour is led in one language or kept as one larger group (in which case the tour will be led in various languages).
A privately driven vehicle will provide a train station transfer today. Please note drivers may or may not speak English, as their sole responsibility is to transfer clients from one location to another. If you would like to have the presence of an English speaking assistant or guide for your transfer, this can be pre-arranged upon request and would be subject to an additional supplement.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as you ride the Eurostar train from Rome to Naples. The approximate travel time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Enjoy a private transfer between your accomodation in Sorrento and the Naples train station. En route you will stop (2hrs) at the ruins of Pompeii. Your English speaking guide will meet you and bring you through the fascinating site. Walk through some of the ancient streets of Pompeii where you can see the baths, forums and villas built by the prosperous Romans in the year 80 BC. Marvel at the fabulously preserved frescoes which adorned the walls and floors of the villas. (Includes entrance to the site of Pompeii).
Enjoy a full day of the beautiful Amalfi Coast on a private tour with an English speaking guide and private vehicle. There are plenty of interesting villages and sites in the area that are worth exploring, including Ravello, Amalfi and Cetara. Approaching from above Positano, one is greeted by a vista of lemon and orange groves, flowers, trees, small allotments, olive groves and gardens which continue right down to the sea. Feel free to explore Positano on the completely pedestrianized streets, while stopping to enjoy a coffee or lunch (not included). So characteristic of Positano: its buildings cling in tiers to the rock face and the small houses, all huddling on top of each other. The white of the buildings form a perfect canvas for the bright flowers which decorate the houses. The small artisan shops with their multi-hued cloths, present the visitor with a vista which is almost difficult to believe. The picturesque town of Ravello, some 5km from Amalfi, has a number of must-see sites. Due to their splendor and décor, visit the Villa Rufolo from the XII century, built by Rufolo's family, as well as Villa Cimbrone. Both villas have an amazingly beautiful garden to visit. Admire one of the best panoramic views of Italy at Villa Cimbrone, on all the Amalfi Coast, and on the Coast of Cilento. The pretty town of Amalfi features a series of white houses, most with barrel vault ceilings and built on terraces within a picturesque web of alleys and stairways. The main monument and symbol of the city is the Cathedral of St. Andrew, preceded by an imposing staircase. Further along the coast lies the town of Cetara. For centuries, it was influenced by the financial and spiritual fortunes of the Benedictine abbey in Cava dei Tirreni. Nowadays, it is dominated by its busy fishing harbor. Depending on time and your preference, the day will be spent visiting these beautiful towns and stopping off at scenic points along the way. For your convenience, entrance to Chiostro Paradiso is included.
Today, why not explore the beautiful isle of Capri?
Just off the coast of Naples and Salerno, between Cape Miseno and Amalfi, a great rock soars like a dream, lost in the cobalt blue sea that surrounds it. This Mediterranean jewel is the island of Capri. The intoxicating fragrance of flowers, delicate splashes of colour, recollections of a millennial past and a peaceful charm, shattered only by the shrill cry of seagulls, are just some of the magical qualities of this mythical isle.
It is very easy to catch a hydrofoil (type of boat) from the pier in Sorrento, taking 20-25 minutes. On arrival, Capri Town can also be reached via a short ride on the Funicular (train) from the Port area.
Revel in the breathtaking views upon Mont Solaro - the highest place on the island (589 metres above sea level). You have the choice of either walking there, by taking the narrow street at the beginning of Viale Axel Munthe, or by taking the chairlift. Should you wish to relax and enjoy the splendid view of Anacapri and the gulf of Naples, the chairlift is a great option. The chairlift station can be accessed near Piazza Vittoria.
Take a 1 hour walk to view one of the most beautiful walks on the island. Admire the lonely Church of S.Maria in Cetrella. Alternatively, it is a 12 minute chairlift ride from Piazza Vittoria. While in Anacapri, consider visiting the villa San Michele, located on the north-eastern side of 'Anacapri, 327 metres above sea level. This is where an ancient Roman imperial villa was, whose ruins were preserved by Axel Munthe. They are now to be found in the garden.
Note: Hydrofoil costs approximately 12 Euros per person. A ticket needs to be purchased at the ticket office before boarding the Funicular.
You will be warmly greeted by the driver of your private vehicle for the transfer to Naples Airport.
In the historic centre of Rome, one of Conde Nast’s Top Cities, close to the train station, the new UNA Hotel Roma is characterized by a strong architectural design throughout its 6 floors. It features a restaurant and bar, and the hotel is only a few steps from the Opera Theatre and the Santa Maria Maggiore Church, and is minutes away from the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Quirinale, Altare della Patria, Piazza di Spagna, and the Pantheon. Under Roman law, hotels charge a small amount per traveller per day as a “tourist tax”, which needs to be paid locally through your hotel in Rome. Amounts may vary, but currently the cost is 4EUR per person for 3* hotels, 6EUR for 4* hotels and 7EUR for 5* hotels. The charges will be added to your bill upon check out and are non-negotiable.
The Imperial Hotel Tramontano located in Sorrento, is overlooking the most beautiful part of the Gulf of Naples. It is nourished by the romantic culture of the picturesque, sublime landscapes of 19th century travellers visiting Sorrento. The 115 elegant rooms are beautifully decorated with frescoes, majolica, soft oriental carpets, period statues, old masters and priceless Sorrentine inlaid furniture. They mirror the meticulous style and eye for detail that are the distinguishing marks of the entire hotel. Savour traditional Neapolitan cuisine, deliciously prepared by Chef Alfonso at the onsite restaurant. Sip refreshing cocktails at the onsite bar, while relaxing among the unforgettable view of the Gulf of Sorrento. Conveniently located poolside, the snacks restaurant and petite brasserie are an oasis just right for savouring specialty dishes while relaxing in the sun, surrounded by the luxuriant greenery of the park. Stay entertained at the onsite freshwater pool, featuring terraces, a solarium and towel service.

"All of our guides were beyond fabulous! Our time in Dublin was much too short, would have loved to stay there at least one more full day. Would recommend extending this package to 15 days for any future visits. The train to Edinburgh was super! Beautiful scenery and great steak pies!"

"Overall, our tour in Spain was very enjoyable, and well planned and executed. Our private tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Virginia, tour guide for royal palace ruins outside of Cordoba, was also excellent. In Seville, we went to the Flamenco Show/dinner, and the Flamenco was outstanding!"

"My husband and I took a 3 week vacation to southern Europe and North Africa and had a great time. All the guides were very knowledgeable and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The arrangements made by Kensington went off without a hitch. This is our second trip with Kensington (we went to Peru in 2009) and we will certainly book with them again."

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
