Gutenbergs (4*) is a boutique style hotel located in the center of the Old Town in Riga. The buildings of the hotel were built in the XVI and XIX centuries for needs of a printing-house and in 2001, it was opened as a hotel. Famous for its gorgeous interior, romantic and historical style, it has 38 rooms of various designs with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. With beautiful paintings, engravings, antiques, and old books in the guest rooms and corridors, it will be as if it is centuries ago.
Staying at Gutenbergs, you are definitely get a feel of staying in Riga! Everything here, from the paintings, engravings, antique fancy articles, to the old books in the guest rooms and the corridors is like being taken back in time to Riga. In the 1st floor's hall, there are beautiful copies of the famous Gutenberg Bible and the ancient times' printing engravings, books, while on the 2nd floor's hall there are landscapes from 17th century Latvia and Riga. On the 3rd floor, there are the original paintings of Latvian painters and a portrait-story about Latvian intelligents.
With 38 cozy rooms, guests will enjoy every convenience, bath or shower, television, wifi, a phone, mini-bar, safe, and heated floors in the bathroom. The standard room has a king sized bed, and air-conditioning.
There are 2 restaurants at the hotel. On the first floor is a romantic restaurant called Gutenbergs. Classic Latvian and Baltic-German dishes, wide variety of world drinks. Good wine selection. Restaurant plays silent instrumental music and has a pleasant, cozy atmosphere. An open-air heated summer restaurant is on the roof terrace of the 5th floor. Open May to September, it has a barbeque kitchen, a bar, and live music.
From the terrace one can see both the Daugava River and towers of at least 14 churches in Riga and, of course, enjoy all the charm of the Old Riga's roofs. The terrace is an ideal place where to enjoy lunch on a summer day, discuss business without disturbance. In the evenings the Gutenberg terrace is a romantic place for dinner for two as well as for a larger bunch of friends. The roof terrace is a perfectly suitable place for a corporate celebration, unofficial receptions or outdoor presentations.
