Stalheim Tours

Stalheim offers an outstanding view over the narrow Nærøy Valley and the surrounding mountains. It is hair-raising to drive up the Stalheimskleivi road (constructed in 1842-49) from Nærøydalen to Stalheim. The road has 13 steep hairpin turns on a stretch of 1,5 km. The view towards the waterfalls of Stalheimsfossen and Sivlefossen is best from the third bend. Today this road is a summer tourist road. The highway E68 goes in a tunnel. At the edge of the cliff is the renowned Stalheim Tourist Hotel, from where many an artist has received inspiration for great works of art. Stalheim Museum also has a collection of 25 old timber buildings with approximately 6,000 artefacts that provide an insight into the history of this place.
