Hotel Grodek (4*) is nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac, away from the sounds of traffic yet right in the heart of the medieval Old Town. Opened in 2007, the Hotel Grodek is a marvellous fusion of old world charm and modern luxury. Adjoining the medieval convent of Dominican nuns, the hotel facade and interior retains a unique historical character, but the addition of modern comforts such as air-conditioning in every room, a sauna and a Winter garden, bring this hotel right in line with the most luxurious that the Krakow has to offer. Hotel Grodek is well known for it's award winning cuisine found within the hotels restaurant. Guest receive complimentary breakfast service, or the oppourtunity to purchase a "hot java" at the coffee shop/café. Hotel Grodek offers 23 guestrooms in a 4-story property. Guestrooms are individually decorated. Guestrooms feature satellite television, refrigerators and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms include bathrobes, hair dryers, and handheld showers.
The hotel itself is an unassuming and friendly four-star 23-roomed hotel, conscious of its historical importance. Excavations prior to refurbishment revealed an impressive collection of finds, all excellently displayed in the restaurant. Both the current president and Lech Walesa have stayed here. Finally, the welcome, the log fire, the general ambiance and the bold oak staircase bring the whole place together; along with the cosy wood-lined library. Hotel facilities: 24-hour front desk, dry cleaning/laundry service, library, complimentary breakfast, complimentary newspapers in lobby, concierge services, Internet access in public areas - surcharge, laundry facilities, multilingual staff, parking (surcharge), room service (limited hours), safe-deposit box - front desk, sauna, shoe shine.
Rooms are individually styled with antiques, original art work and gorgeous quilted bedspreads. The rooms are not large – it is a small hotel – but the proportions are spot on. Cul-de-Sac restaurant is used well, with a large conservatory area to lighten the darker, rich interior. Breakfast is a buffet and dinner is quite nice, where you can try twice 'Polish Culinary Champion' Rafal Targosz's tempting starters such as tuna tartare with avocado on a mousse of Italian fennel or a main course of lamb cutlets with mint, aubergine mousse and asparagus dumplings.
