Day 1: Lisbon

Meet your driver for a private airport transfer. For your added comfort, we will have an English speaking assistant waiting for you outside the customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation.

A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

With a private guide and driver, discover the wonderful city of Lisbon on this half-day tour. Visit the heart of the city, Rossio Square, then spend some time in Alfama, the Old Quarter. See the Lisbon Cathedral, and then walk up to St. George’s Castle, where you will pass by the Roman Theatre Ruins. You will then depart to Belém, the city's most monumental and historical area where you will visit the Patrimony of Mankind Jerónimos Monastery, and Belém Tower. Enjoy a short stop at the Monument to the Discoveries before a transfer back to your hotel. No entrance fees included.

There are lots of great fine dining options in Lisbon to choose from. A couple of suggestions would be:

Tavares – (Address: Rua da Misericórdia 37 P - 1200-270 Lisboa. Tel: 213421112). Founded in 1784, this emblematic address is renowned for its history and elegance. It has an attractive entrance hall and majestic dining room with large mirrors, superb gilded work and chandeliers. Creative dishes with a solid base in traditional cuisine.

Eleven  (Address: Rua Marquês da Fronteira, Jardim Amália Rodrigues. Campolide, Marquês de Pombal. 1070 Lisbon.Tel: 213862211)). This 1 Michelin star restaurant is a gourmet / formal restaurant offering International cuisine.  Located in the heart of Lisbon’s business district, overlooking the entire city and surrounded by lush gardens, Eleven is more than simply a restaurant, it is a place of culture and art, both at the table and beyond it. Located atop Edward II Park, its cuisine is contemporary Mediterranean prepared by Joachuim Koerper whose restaurant in Spain holds 2 Michelin stars and was rated the best restaurant in the country by the Gourmetour guide.

The Michelin starred Belcanto (Address: Largo de São Carlos 10 P - 1200 - 410 Lisboa. Tel: 213420607) is situated behind a discreet façade in the typical Bairro Alto district. It has two attractively decorated dining rooms. Both are furnished in a classic, contemporary style and both boast views of the kitchen. Traditional dishes form the basis of the menu, alongside more creative cuisine with an innovative touch.

The Bairro Alto Hotel reflects a fusion of old and new and pays homage to the country's diverse architectural designers. Day 2: Lisbon

Enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace, or relax at your hotel.

In this private cooking class, you will learn all the secrets of some of the most traditional Portuguese recipes with a local chef in a cozy and fun environment! In the cooking class, the chef/instructor will teach you how to prepare a traditional Portuguese meal consisting of a fish dish, meat dish and dessert in a hands-on experience! You will then sit down and enjoy the meal you have prepared with your together, paired with excellent Portuguese Wines. Fresh ingredients are the basis of the Portuguese cuisine, so therefore you will use fresh ingredients like vegetables, fish, shellfish and meat. Olive oils, cheeses and cured sausages are also important ingredients of the Portuguese cuisine that you will use in the kitchen. Cooking Classes is an excellent opportunity to learn about the flavors of the Portuguese cuisine with locals in a funny and relaxed environment. At the end you will know how to prepare a traditional Portuguese soup, a main dish (meat or fish) and a dessert that will delight your senses! You will be able to take home the recipes with the ingredients, portions and every detail allowing you to replicate them at home and impress your family and friends!

Day 3: Lisbon

Today you will discover the Alentejo region tasting local wines and taking in few cultural sites along the way. First, you will head off to the beautiful city of Evora which is the capital of the region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its well-preserved old town centre still partially enclosed by medieval walls as well as various great monuments such as a Roman Temple. Along the way, you will stop at two charming and popular local wineries: Herdade da Cartuxa and Herdade do Esporao. Locals always recommend these wineries as wonderful places to sip savour products and soak in the culture. Lunch will be taken at Herdade do Esporão farm (included).

Please note that the listed wine farms are subject to availability at the time of booking. If not available, we will select other similar wineries for your final itinerary.

Fado refers to the national song style of Portugal and is deemed of cultural importance to Lisbon and therefore protected by UNESCO. Experience live Fado this evening at an excellent Fado Restaurant, "Casa de Linhares".  Enjoy the great ambience as you listen to the Fado singers over dinner at one of Lisbon's most famous venues. Includes 3-course meal, wine, coffee and water as well as private return transportation.

Day 4: Lisbon - Porto

Enjoy a private transfer with vehicle and driver to Lisbon.

A private driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel to escort you on your half day guided tour of Porto. Enjoy a visit to Sé Cathedral, followed by the panoramic viewpoint of Gaia. Head to Batalha Square, then walk Santa Catarina Street. You will stop next at Liberdade Square, and the Clérigos Church and Tower. Visit the beautiful Lello bookshop, venture to Ribeira Square and conclude with a visit to Porto Wine Cellars with a tasting. You will then be transferred to your hotel. No entrance fees included.

Day 5: Porto

Your private driver and guide will chauffeur you from your hotel to various stops along your full day tour of the Douro Valley including some marvelous local wine-tasting. In each area you will discover something wonderful; In Amarante, visit the Sao Gonçalo Monastery and historical city centre. Enjoy the views as you are driven through a picturesque valley before arriving at Mesão Frio, home of the Gothic parish church of São Nicolau. Afterwards, take a walk on the seaside wharf in Régua if this is of interest. From here, you'll get to visit the renowned train station in Pinhão. Visit a Port Wine farm to learn more about this drink synonymous with Portugal. Along the way you stop at two local wineries; Quinta da Pacheca visit and Quinta do Seixo, each offering you the opportunity to try some different local wines. A locally-inspired lunch is included at one of the wineries, or weather permitting a picnic can be arranged.

You may want to do nothing more than spend some time relaxing in the tranquil surroundings of The Yeatman during your stay. Set in extensive landscaped gardens, it is a serene and tranquil retreat where you can unwind and relax as you absorb the stunning views over a refreshing drink or a leisurely game of croquet. The Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa is an oasis of calm and wellbeing, where one can enjoy a unique range of facial and body treatments based on beneficial natural ingredients extracted from the grape, renowned for their antioxidant properties. Day 6: Porto - Lisbon

Porto (Oporto) is the second city of Portugal and is also one of the oldest European centers registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Come and find out more about this incredible city in a walk that will surprise you for sure. Includes visit to the Oporto Cathedral, São Bento Train Station and a walk to the river Douro through the streets of Ribeira (the beautiful and typical streets of Ribeira). Stop at three typical places where you can taste the most typical dishes (like: Codfish cake; Fried Petinga (small sardines) with beans rice and so on) and wines of the city. A one-way private transfer from your hotel to meet your private walking tour guide is included.

Optional visits that you can join to this program: visit to the inside of Clerigos Church and tower; St Francis Church, a baroque jewel; “Palacio da Bolsa” a beautiful and unique neoclassical building from the 19th Century (not included).

Day 7: Lisbon

Meet your driver for a private airport transfer in Lisbon. Please note drivers may or may not speak English as their sole responsibility is to transfer clients from one location to another. If you would like to have the presence of an English speaking Assistant or Guide for your transfer this can be pre-arranged upon request and would be subject to an additional supplement.

Trip Terms & Conditions

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
  • Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
