Spend time in Portugal's capital city, Lisbon, known as the city set on seven hills, with its cobble-stoned pavements and narrow streets full of Art Nouveau cafes. The charm of Lisbon exists in its strong links to the past which includes some of the best known voyages of discovery (including Columbus' maiden voyage to discover the Americas). Its renovated palaces, magnificent churches and impressive castle mirror the city's rich cultural heritage and make for a great city break, while its eclectic blend of neighborhoods, culture and architecture distinguish this capital city uniquely from the other European capitals and make it a truly fascinating and comprehensive city to visit. Enjoy guided tours of the various places of interest in the city as well as in the environs such as Fatima, an important point of pilgrimage for the Roman Catholic religion, typical fisherman's villages, and UNESCO heritage sites such as the Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha and Sintra, known as "Lord Byron's Glorious Eden" to name but a few.
Meet your driver for a private airport transfer. For your added comfort, we will have an English speaking assistant waiting for you outside the customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation.
Spreading out along the right bank of the Tagus, and known as the Baixa, the downtown area of Lisbon is located in the 18th-century area around Rossio. East of the arcade Praça do Comércio, are the medieval quarters of Alfama and Mouraria, crowned by the magnificent St. George's Castle. To the west lie Bairro Alto and Madragoa, with their typical streets, and on the western extreme is Belém, with its Belém Tower, (the sentinel over the Tagus river that protects the entrance into Lisbon), the Jerónimos Monastery (masterpieces of Manueline architecture and classified in UNESCO's International Heritage list) and the Cultural Center of Belém.
A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.
With a private guide and driver, discover the wonderful city of Lisbon on this half-day tour. Visit the heart of the city, Rossio Square, then spend some time in Alfama, the Old Quarter. See the Lisbon Cathedral, and then walk up to St. George’s Castle, where you will pass by the Roman Theatre Ruins. You will then depart to Belém, the city's most monumental and historical area where you will visit the Patrimony of Mankind Jerónimos Monastery, and Belém Tower. Enjoy a short stop at the Monument to the Discoveries before a transfer back to your hotel. No entrance fees included.
Spend an unforgettable evening in Lisbon on a shared group evening tour. Have dinner and enjoy the show of Fado, the traditional Portuguese song, in a festive atmosphere. A private driver will chauffeur you on your full day tour along the coast of the Lisbon District. Your first stop will be in Sintra, a World Heritage site known as "Lord Byron's Glorious Eden". Sintra was used as a retreat by the Romans, the Moors and the Portuguese Kings due to its location, beauty, wooden ravines and fresh water springs. Next you will visit Cabo da Roca, the most western point in all of continental Europe. On your way back, you will discover Cascais, famed for being a resort area for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th and early 20th century. Finally, you will stop in Estoril, a seaside resort and tourist destination. At the end of the day you will be transferred back to your hotel. No entrance fees included.
A private vehicle and driver will pick you up at your hotel and chauffeur you on your full day tour of Obidos, Nazare, Batalha and Fatima. Your first destination of the day will be Fatima, an important point of pilgrimage for the Roman Catholic religion due to the vision of the Virgin Mary by three young children in 1917. Every year, thousands of pilgrims make their way from all over the world to celebrate this occasion. On your way back you will visit Nazaré, the most typical fisherman village in Portugal. You will then continue and make a stop to admire the Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Your final stop will be Óbidos. Completely enclosed by lofty medieval walls, this is a small town with whitewashed houses brightened up by colourful bougainvillea. Your day will come to an end with a transfer back to your hotel. No entrance fees included.
Meet your driver for a private airport transfer in Lisbon. Please note drivers may or may not speak English as their sole responsibility is to transfer clients from one location to another. Hotel Britania (4*) is a genuine Art Deco Boutique Hotel in the Historic Centre of Lisbon. Located on a quiet street right alongside the cosmopolitan Avenida da Liberdade. The only hotel to remain intact until today, this hotel records the glamour of the 1940's. Everything about its design strives to reawaken the spirit of the unit without losing its original soul. The rooms conserve ample dimensions as well as the cork floor. The warm colours contrast with the elegant lines of the furniture and the luster light fittings. The recovery of the whole building is exemplary as is the case of the paintings in the bar alluding to the Portuguese overseas empire.

"Melissa Field was extremely helpful! She was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! She kept me updated on the status of everything and provided timely correspondence. She took ownership for any problems I had and remedied them. I had the most amazing time of my life in Iceland and Paris! I would not have experienced everything without the help of Kensington Tours."

"All of our guides were beyond fabulous! Our time in Dublin was much too short, would have loved to stay there at least one more full day. Would recommend extending this package to 15 days for any future visits. The train to Edinburgh was super! Beautiful scenery and great steak pies!"

"Overall, our tour in Spain was very enjoyable, and well planned and executed. Our private tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Virginia, tour guide for royal palace ruins outside of Cordoba, was also excellent. In Seville, we went to the Flamenco Show/dinner, and the Flamenco was outstanding!"

"My husband and I took a 3 week vacation to southern Europe and North Africa and had a great time. All the guides were very knowledgeable and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The arrangements made by Kensington went off without a hitch. This is our second trip with Kensington (we went to Peru in 2009) and we will certainly book with them again."

"Thank you for your follow up, we both loved our time in Croatia. It’s really a beautiful place, especially the coast. Your choice of hotels was great. It was an incredible view from the Bellevue hotel in Dubrovnik and the Vestibule in Split was in the best possible location. We were able to relax in our room listening to the wonderful singers in the courtyard and its central location made it so easy to walk anywhere we wanted to see with ease. "

"We just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris and Normandy. We spent three nights in Paris and then enjoyed a seven night cruise on the Seine to Normandy with AMA Waterways. The time in Paris was well spent and has piqued our interest to return for a more thorough visit. Guide Wafaa Lankey was superb in our visit to Versailles. The Seine cruise was relaxing and beautiful. So many wonderful little towns and we wished we had more time in each one to explore and enjoy.
We traveled to Croatia and Slovenia using Kensington earlier this year which was a fantastic trip."
