Hotel Eilean Iarmain (3*) on the beautiful Isle of Skye is small and privately owned, situated on a sheltered bay in the south of Skye, with expansive views over the Sound of Sleat to the hills of Knoydart on the mainland. Their policy has been to keep the old fashioned character of the hotel intact, in order to retain its Highland charm and old world atmosphere. Tartan carpets, a golden eagle and stag antlers adorn the hall. The hotel has a 2 AA Rosette restaurant offering excellent a la carte dining, and a well-stocked bar which serves a particularly good selection of malt whiskies and local real ale. Eilean Iarmain is the headquarters of Praban na Linne, who produce 'The Gaelic Whiskies'. Adjacent to Hotel Eilean Iarmain, by the old stone pier, The Gaelic Whiskies have a small shop for whisky tasting and the purchase of their brands.
Hotel Eilean Iarmain (3*) is decorated in cotton and linen chintzes, with traditional furniture. There are log fires in the reception rooms, and a wood panelled dining room where candlelit dinners can be enjoyed overlooking the bay and the island of Ornsay. There is complimentary internet access available in the sitting room and the bar but there are no televisions in bedrooms as we feel this is in keeping with the unique atmosphere of the hotel. There are however, televisions in the four suites.
There are twelve bedrooms (six in the adjacent Garden House) each with its own individual character. Some rooms are wood-lined, and one has a 19th century canopied bed from nearby Armadale Castle. All 12 rooms have complimentary tea, coffee, chocolate, shortbread, toiletries and a miniature of gold award winning "Te Bheag" whisky, hair dryer, dressing gowns and direct dial telephone.
