Discover the Emerald Isle's hidden gems during a tour of Ireland

Ireland tours are appealing to all sorts of travelers. Whether you're intrigued by the country's lengthy history or are more compelled to visit because of the unique Irish culture, you certainly won't be disappointed. Choosing which destinations to visit and what sights to see can seem like a challenge wherever you go, and that is especially true when it comes to Ireland. However, there are a few spots in particular that can satisfy even the most discerning traveler.

Ireland's history dates back thousands of years, and few landmarks are more indicative of that than Newgrange. Located in the northeast corner of the country, this prehistoric monument was built around 3,200 B.C., which means it pre-dates two of the most iconic wonders of the ancient world - the Giza Pyramids and Stonehenge. Although it may not seem that impressive from the outside - it's a large circular mound - the interior is what stands out the most. Once you step inside, you're presented with many narrow stone passageways that stand as a testament to the ingenuity of the Irish inhabitants who lived here more than 5,000 years ago.

The big cities of Dublin and Belfast are certainly must-see destinations, but the smaller village of Kinsale is also worth a visit. Located along the southeast coast, Kinsale has risen from an oft-overlooked fishing hub to a thriving town known primarily for its stand-out restaurants. There are no wrong choices when it comes to finding a new place to eat in Kinsale, and the scene is always evolving.

It would not be a trip to Ireland without visiting at least one of its many iconic fortresses, and King John's Castle is a great choice. The majestic building has origins dating back to the 10th century, and its location on the banks of the River Shannon adds an extra sense of gravitas to its already impressive appearance.
