Odessa
For hundreds of years southern Ukraine has been bordering the lands of the Ukrainian Cossacks and those of the Crimean Tatars (a Turkish ethnic group) resembling a "wild-west" no man's land. Odessa, the Black Sea's gateway to Ukraine is a combination of diverse landscapes and is the country’s biggest commercial Black Sea port. The city is a crossroads of cultures, languages and trade. Explore the old city center with private vehicle and English speaking guide. Discover the Catacombs, the place where the Romanian army was hidden during the Second World War and large enough to keep food and weapons for half a year. Learn more about the history of the area by visiting the local Archaeological Museum. You may choose to extend your stay with a tour to the Danube Delta and enjoy a traditional lunch with fresh-caught fish or discover another area of Eastern or central Europe.

Day 2: Odessa
Enjoy a half day tour of Odessa with a private vehicle and guide. During the tour you will view the Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, with a drive through some of the most important boulevards in the city. Continue your tour with a visit to the Odessa Art Museum which was established in 1899, in a palace designed by architect Franz Boffo. The collection reflects the history of painting from the old Russian icons, classical art and works by contemporary Odessa artists, showcasing the development in both the realistic and avant-garde trends. The museum is located in the center of Odessa and has an underground grotto which is open for visitors. The entrance fees to the museum are included in the tour cost.
Enjoy a half day tour of the catacombs in Odessa which appeared as a result of the extraction of the limestone used for the construction of the city. In times past, the catacombs gave shelter to the homeless, to those who were in hiding and pursued, and to the thieves and smugglers. They are mostly known for the use that the partisan movement in Odessa made of them during World War II. When the German and Romanian army occupied Odessa during the war, the Soviet Military headquarters gave the order to organize the partisan resistance. The partisan unit was fighting with the Nazi and Romanian army during the period of occupation. You'll walk in underground tunnels, where conditions of a partisan camp are reconstructed and where you will hear all about the history of the struggle. At the end of the tour you will be brought back to your hotel.
