“When it's three o'clock in New York, it's still 1938 in London.”
- Bette Midler (Actor)
Everything in New York is cutting edge: its architecture, its fashion, its people, its pace. Spend the week taking in the crème de la crème of New York culture. Soak in the art scene with private guided tours at the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Guggenheim is not only home to renowned works of art (from Impressionism to Contemporary), but the museum's construction itself is among the 20th century's most important architectural landmarks which will be highlighted on the tour. While at the MoMa, your private guide will whisk you away into the world of Modern Art highlighting a wide range of influential European and American artists including René Magritte, Georgia O'Keeffe, & Jackson Pollock. With creativity as abundant as cabs in this town, take a stop at the NBC studios for a completely private guided tour behind the scenes. Get out of Uptown and see the Boros of NYC on a private day tour of the TriBoros and Coney Island. Your holiday will be rounded out with dinner at a live jazz show and dining at top restaurants.

Day 3: New York City
Your private guided tour will be a unique and unforgettable museum experience of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The tour is perfect for first time visitors, as the "Highlights Tour" focuses on the museum’s Frank Lloyd Wright–designed architecture, permanent collection, and introduces the special exhibition on view (when open).
New York's High Line was built in the 1930s to lift freight traffic 30 feet in the air. This removed dangerous trains from the streets of Manhattan's largest industrial district. No trains have run on the High Line since 1980 and the elevated tracks have been preserved and the space has been converted into a very unique public park. The High Line is located on Manhattan's West Side. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. This New York must-see is an ideal space to stroll free high above the city's bustling traffic. Be sure to take a break (or two) at some of the High Line's best known food joints - for coffee stop at Blue Bottle, for a gourmet ice cream sandwich swing by Melt Bakery and for true NYC local sustainable cooking visit The Green Table.
New York City has just as much to offer in the evening as during the day! Enjoy a Broadway show, a pub crawl to one of the many famous drinking establishments, or a private night time city tour in a limousine followed by a dinner at a jazz, blues or Latin club with live music. Alternatively, you may like to consider a night at the Opera, a night time cruise aboard the Staten Island Ferry Boat passing through Liberty Island, the majestic Verrazzano Bridge and the historical Brooklyn Bridge with a light dinner before being transferred back to the hotel. If any of this interest you, please ask one of our specialists about any of these tour options.

Day 4: New York City
Spend the afternoon with your own personal shopper who will help you find the perfect outfit at the perfect price! Your personal shopping assistant will make your New York City's visit more rewarding, and less time consuming. At the end of your shopping, enjoy lunch in a typical midtown restaurant. Hotel pick up time: 10:00, in front of main exit.
After being picked up from your hotel, enjoy an evening ride through Harlem before sitting down to a dinner-show at the famous Lenox Lounge! The historic Lenox Lounge and its Zebra Room have been significant in the Harlem community since the opening in the late 1930’s. It has served as the backdrop for many jazz legends and is one of the few original art-deco clubs in New York City. You will be brought back to your hotel at the end of the night. (This service is "semi-private" - depending on the number of participants - it could be offered either as a shared ride with additional passengers (maximum of 10 people), or privately).

Day 5: New York City
Manhattan - twelve miles long, three miles wide and a world unto itself. Manhattan Island is famous for its “uptown” and “downtown” neighborhoods that can satisfy anyone’s tastes for culture, entertainment and food. No stomach or soul could possibly go hungry in Manhattan. Speak to your travel consultant to ask advice on the best ways to explore New York's various neighbourhoods by foot, by horse and carriage, by taxi or with a private guide.
Take the afternoon to explore the island on your own and seek out your favourite nook of the city:
- Take a stroll through Central Park - stop for an afternoon picnic by the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, hire a boat by the Lake boat house, visit the Zoo and the bird sanctuary, or explore the area by horse and carriage located on the south side of the park near the legendary Plaza Hotel.
- Head South from the Park to Times Square where the bright neon lights never sleep - and who could blame them with all there is to see, do and eat in the area. A tourist magnet for good reason as the area also attracts the best of Broadway talent to the Theatre District. Stop along "Hell's Kitchen" (9th and 10th Avenues) for a fair priced ethnic inspired bite.
- Head to Harlem if you want to explore a historical center of urban African-American culture (above Central from 110th to 145th Street on the East Side and above 125th Street). Stop by the famous Apollo Theatre and grab a bite to eat at the Lenox Lounge.
- Art Lovers, Haute Shoppers and People Waters alike can spend days in the Upper East side (59th Street to 96th Street between 5th and York Avenues). This neighbourhood is home to the top shops like Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel as well, the area houses "Museum Mile" where you will find the Metropolitan Museum of Art , the Guggenheim , the Whitney , the Museum of the City of New York, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design all within blocks of each other.
-Midtown (42nd Street to 59th Street east of 5th Avenue) is one of the most visited areas of New York - it's fast, crowded and fantastic. Think the Rockefeller Center for skating in the winter, the MoMA for its Pop Art, Saks for its couture, Radio City Music Hall for entertainment and Grand Central for its architectural glory.
-China Town and Little Italy (Grand Street to Chatham Square and from Broadway to beyond the Bowery towards East Broadway) is a vibrant and colorful neighborhood that is one of the most sought after areas for ethnic food and street vendors - we recommend eating your way through it's to notch-cheap restaurants. Walk up Canal Street for all the shopping deals.
-In the recent past the Meatpacking District (West 15th Street, Gansevoort Street and 11th Avenue) was merely an industrial neighbourhood of wholesale meat companies, now it's the 'It' place for trendy boutique hotels, hot lounges and hang outs and the city’s newest top restaurants. Make sure you climb up to the High Line pedestrian path which rests on elevated old rail tracks.
- Greenwich Village or "the Villiage" has kept its bohemian roots with its quaint winding streets, restored townhomes and inviting restaurants. It was historically the centre of New York gay culture and gentrification has led money to the area allowing for a healthy boutique shopping area to be sustained on Bleecker Street. Hit the legendary Blue Note in the evening for live jazz.
In the afternoon, enjoy some time on your own to relax.
This tour features a comprehensive, in-depth exploration of midtown Manhattan, lower Manhattan, and the legendary Brooklyn Bridge, with its breathtaking views of New York’s skyscrapers at night. End the tour with a dinner in a typical village bistro followed by the transfer back to your hotel.
Service includes round trip transportation from/to hotel, full day tour with private minivan and driver/guide.

It has been singularly important in developing and collecting modernist art, and is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world.
