Situated in the soul of the Amazon Forest, the Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is a luxurious group of cottages built on wooden stilts. The lodge brings together nature and comfort in a subtle and harmonious fashion. It does not have grandiose buildings, vast fields, and fibreglass replicas of animals or plastic flowers on the tables. The 16 cottages are designed with all the necessities of home, and decorated with local techniques using natural materials. Dining is taken indoors with a view of the water, in a tree-enclosed area. Dishes are both local and international, and will surpass all expectations using fresh produce and exotics fruits of all flavours. One is never lacking amusement in the Amazon Forest, as there are a plethora of species to observe as well as a range of activities such as hiking, swimming with the dolphins, and canoeing.
There are 16 suites in the Lodge, all of them equipped with split air conditioning, box beds, hot and cold water, fridge and an inviting porch. The architecture is in line with the regional tradition: lots of hay and suspended wooden structures, holding cozy rooms where guests will find peace and quiet for an invigorating night’s sleep. Throughout the hotel, the homespun atmosphere comes from modern forms and contours which enhance the grace of natural materials and their functions in the structure. It is wonderful to notice how nature is generous when treated with care and skill.
