The Caiman Ecological Regufe is a pioneering ecotourism enterprise in the Southern Pantanal, situated on a cattle ranch, Estancia Caiman, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The Caiman Ecological Refuge comprises 2 lodges, Cordilheira and Baiazinha, which have fully independent operation and are 22km from each other. All lodges offer the same contact with local fauna, flora and culture. As well the same standard of service, including a swimming pool, air conditioned in the rooms, private bathrooms with hot shower, living room with SKY TV, DVD and restaurant.
Baiazinha Lodge has 6 standard rooms that are situated on the wings of the bird. The rooms are decorated in traditional ranch style and the balconies overlook the west-facing inlet of the lake, which is an amazing place to watch the wetland sunset. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, and bathroom with hot water.
Cordilheira Lodge has five double suites that are decorated in contemporary style. Each room has a separate bedroom and living room, bathroom, powder room and balcony which can accommodate two people.
The cuisine proposes to totally immerse visitors in Pantanal culture, offering the best available on the region’s ranches. The menus presented are inspired by Pantanal recipes and are rich in local ingredients including freshwater fish, fine meats and fruits of the Cerrado, like the pequi, soursop and guavira.
Regular activities include Photographic safari, Walking in the trails, Canandian canoe tour, Horseback ride, and Nocturnal Spotlight. Optional activities include Birdwatching, Bike tour, Motor boat tour at Aquidauana river, Special horseback rides, and Cowboy’s day.
