Located two and a half hours from Camp Grande, in the Southern part of the Pantanal, the Pousada Refúgio da Ilha is an ecological paradise on the banks of the clean waters of the Salobra River, which is divided in two arms forming an island. The lodge offers 7 rooms with air-conditioning, ceiling-fan, screened windows and private bath. It also has 2 bars, a dining room, observation deck, small library, a covered rest area at the bank of the river, souvenir shop and a pier. With an ecosystem totally preserved, it has an area of 1.800 hectares, habitat of the representative fauna of the Pantanal which can be observed during tours. The charming lodge offers the possibility of tranquility and comfort appropriated to an unforgettable stay and personalized service. All meals are included as well as are guides who speak Italian, English or Spanish.
The Pousada Refúgio da Ilha is located about 220 km from Campo Grande. It is a farm adapted in 2007 for eco-tourism, surrounded by bays and the Rio Salobra, with its clear waters.
The standard rooms retain simplicity, rusticity and comfort of Brazil with much style. Each room is equipped with ceiling fan, air conditioning and private bathrooms.
Guests can enjoy colonial and regional meals served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cuisine is a perfect combination of sophistication with the popular wealth from the country farm’s culinary. There is a diverse menu that will suite the taste of all the guests, which includes several dishes from worldwide cuisine with simplicity of regional food.
To avoid the intense heat during the day, the tours take place early in the morning and mid-afternoon. At these times of the day, the possibilities of seeing the movement of the animals are a lot greater. With the objective of causing as little damage as possible to the ecosystem, the guests are divided in small groups to join tours, including horseback riding, boat rides, trekking, piranha fishing, bird watching, photo safari and nocturnal viewing of Caymans.
