Tierra Atacama is a boutique hotel on the edge of San Pedro de Atacama. It was created by the Purcell family, long time owners and operators of the Portillo Ski Resort and Hotel, famous in Chile for its excellent skiing, food and warm hospitality. Like Portillo, Tierra Atacama provides guest experiences that combine outdoor adventure and sports with indoor comforts, hospitality and service. Tierra Atacama’s rooms all have private terraces and views of the Licancabur volcano. The interior decoration is casually elegant in the neo-minimal style. Our decorators scoured local villages looking for the unique hand-made textiles and crafts to add authentic desert cultural pieces to each room.
Of the 32 rooms, 30 are designed for two people either in separate beds or together. We also have two Family Suites with three bedrooms, one large double room with a private terrace and bathroom and two smaller rooms for 2 people each. All the rooms are equipped with wireless internet connections, central heating, safe, hair drier and telephone. Our beds and sheets will make an afternoon nap irresistible.

At Tierra Atacama our chef creates wonderful meals using healthy fresh ingredients of the area, such as quinoa, Andean potatoes and fresh herbs. We source the best beef and Chilean lamb, the freshest fish and seafood, the best of the seasonal fruits and vegetables, including from our own garden. Chile is a wonderful country for food with its long Pacific Ocean coast and its many excellent climatic zones for agriculture.
