Discover the Galapagos Islands on board the finest expedition vessel available. Ever since her arrival in Ecuador, the Eclipse has surpassed the other options available in the Galapagos Islands, offering unparalleled levels of comfort and service. She was converted specifically for upscale cruising in the islands, and was designed to meet the exacting demands of luxury travel. The Eclipse is the perfect base for any Galapagos experience; a generously proportioned ship with a small yacht atmosphere. Whether you are snorkeling with sea lions, watching a blue-footed booby feed its young, or following a giant tortoise through the forest, the Galapagos Islands will surpass all expectations. And there is no better way to enjoy the wonders of the islands, than on board the Eclipse.
The M.V. Eclipse accommodates 48 passengers – just half the number usually found on a ship this size. It is unique in offering the generous cabins of a larger vessel, whilst preserving the atmosphere and exclusivity of a smaller yacht. Features include a library, a boutique, a lounge and an infirmary, with a doctor on board at all times. One of the most popular areas on board is the observation/sun deck, ideal for stargazing, whale watching, or simply lazing in the Jacuzzi.
Fully air-conditioned, the Eclipse´s spacious cabins have either a double or twin bed arrangement, with two bedside tables, a writing desk, chair, ample closet space, private safety deposit box and an internal communications system. All twin beds can be converted to queen-size beds. Cabins are serviced three times a day. Deluxe and Superior Staterooms on the Boat Deck have picture windows and Staterooms on the Main Deck have portholes. The well-appointed bathrooms consist of a shower, toilet, sink, cabinet, hairdryer and a basket of toiletries. Please feel free to use the complimentary bathrobes. Fresh towels are available every day should you require them; however, please take into consideration the water conservation policy that is in effect on board. Special towels for the beach will be provided by guides on the island excursions.
See Above Description.
Times for each meal will vary according to the daily program. No reservations are required for meals and all 48 passengers can be accommodated in one sitting. Lunch is usually served outside in the al fresco dining area. All soft drinks are complimentary on the Eclipse.
Star Gazing: Since Galapagos offers cloudless skies most of the year, stargazing should not be missed. There are nightly lectures on the top deck with visual aids to enhance the sightings (December to April). Whale Watching: There is always the opportunity to whale-watch while traveling between the different islands, especially from June to September. However, the best chance of seeing whales is off the northwest coast of Isabela on Tuesday. An announcement will always be made if a whale is spotted. Equator Crossing: On Wednesday afternoon, after the panga ride at Punta Vicente Roca, we will cross the Equator. Passengers are welcome to go to the bridge and observe the GPS showing latitude 0º and enjoy delicious Sushi in the al fresco area. Open Bridge Policy: Navigation lessons from the Captain and officers are available whenever the ship is anchored. Entertainment: On Tuesday evening there will be musical entertainment after dinner. Snorkeling: The use of masks, snorkels, fins and wetsuits is complimentary on the Eclipse. Snorkelling equipment is handed out on Saturday. It offers two types of snorkeling: From the beach ( suitable for beginners) and from the Panga (known as deep water snorkeling, where the panga takes the snorkelers to a site and waits for them, previous snorkeling experience required). Kayaking: According to National Park regulations, kayaking is only permitted at certain sites with a maximum number of 8 passengers in 4 double kayacs, please sign up for this activity at the lobby of the Eclipse.
