Welcome aboard!Take some time to get settled in to your stateroom and to explore the length of your ship. You'll set sail prior to dinner this evening.Your trip will take you through the Magellan Strait and the Beagle Channel to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world: Southern Patagonia including the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago.
Today you will be sailing through Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park, where, weather permitting, you shall go ashore. The legendary Cape Horn was discovered in 1616 and is a sheer 1,394-foot high rocky promontory. For many years, it was an important navigation route between the Pacific and the Atlantic. It has been referred to as the ‘End of the Earth’, a park that has been declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2005.
In the afternoon, you will go ashore at historical Wulaia Bay, originally the site of one of the region’s largest Yamana aboriginal settlements. Charles Darwin landed there in 1833 during his voyage on the HMS Beagle. This area is also renowned for the mesmerizing beauty of its vegetation and geography. Here you'll take an enchanted walk through the Magellan Forest of lengas, coigües, canelos, ferns, and other endemic vegetation, to reach a panoramic viewpoint. Depending on seasonality, your intended daily stops may be reversed.
You'll navigate along the Northwest arm of the Beagle Channel to reach Pia Fjord, where you make landfall. You will then take a short hike to gain a panoramic view of the spectacular Pia Glacier, which extends from the mountaintops down to the sea.
In the afternoon, you will enter Garibaldi Fjord where again you'll make landfall for a hike through the forest up to a glacial waterfall to enjoy the spectacular views.
For those who choose to stay onboard, your Captain will point the bow towards the beautiful blue Garibaldi Glacier so that you can enjoy the panoramic view from the upper decks.
In the morning, you will be sailing through Cockburn Channel to anchor in Chico Sound. Traveling in well-equipped Zodiac boats, we will explore Alakaluf Fjord and enjoy the view of Piloto and Nena Glaciers from the sea. You will find yourself being drawn to the intense blue color of the Piloto Glacier, which is due to its compression and age. You'll learn about the formation of glaciers and their influence on the unexpected topography of the Fuegian-Patagonian channels.
In the afternoon, you will enter the spectacular De Agostini Sound, right in the heart of the Darwin Mountain Range – the perfect viewing point to appreciate glaciers that make their way down to the sea from the upper ice field. Later that afternoon, you'll travel aboard Zodiacs to the Águila Glacier where you will embark upon an easy walk to its base. It is the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia’s cold rainforest and to see how the power of nature has molded the spectacular landscape.
Early in the morning, weather permitting, you will go ashore on Magdalena Island, located in the middle of the Strait of Magellan. The island used to be an essential source of supplies for navigators and explorers and is inhabited by an immense colony of Magellan Penguins that you will be able to see during a walk to the lighthouse. In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a ride aboard Zodiacs to Marta Island to observe South American Sea Lions.Though animal sightings are expected, they are not guaranteed due to the unpredictable movement of the colonies.
In the late morning you'll disembark from your ship and bid farewell to the crew.

"I know it's silly to give all 10's, obviously every trip has it's ups and downs, but if it hadn't been for our Kensington Tours planning, guides and drivers we would have been lost! It was wonderful to be out in a strange new environment yet know we had a safety net and a friendly face. The places we visited were awesome but I think we'll remember most the people that we met. Thank you and I'll send photos soon! Sincerely, Christina Adams"

"We just returned last night from our Patagonia adventure and we had the time of our lives! Everything turned out perfectly. Guides were fun, on time and informative. The excursions were great for an active family and, of course, amazing. I thought after the glacier trek it can't get any better - but it kept surprising me and amazing me. My personal favorite was the horseback riding. I thought afterwards after everything we have seen the bike tour would have to be a let down - NOPE - it also was so exciting and our guide was a hoot! Meals were amazing and after so many active excursions no guilt in pigging out. I am so happy we took a little risk and went out of the way with our vacation this year. We will have this with us for a life time.

"GREAT trip! We were very pleased with every aspect that Brandi set up for us including the tour of Quito and environs. Our guide spoke excellent English, the driver was courteous and we felt safe and well-informed throughout the day. We're still going through the 500+ photos that I took and the 1700+ photos that my son took. Galapagos was a fabulous trip and the Eclipse was a terrific way to navigate the islands.

I wanted to give you a little feedback on our recent trip to Peru.
In a word – EXCELLENT – especially the high quality people you work with in Peru. We have taken tours all over the world, S. Africa, France, England, Vietnam, China to name just a few, and the service we received in Peru was far beyond and of the other experiences we have had. The attention to detail was very much appreciated, picking us up at the airport, taking us back to the airport and complete, hassle free, handling of all our details truly made this a stress free experience.
Special thanks to:
-The entire reservation system and the people I came in contact with that process...every detail accounted for
-The people that looked after us in Lima
-Andre, the young man in Cusco who faithfully phoned every night just to make sure the day went well, my wife was well and that we knew what we had to do the next day.
-The Sumaq hotel in Aquas Calientes...you can tell the level of service by the details...I watched a waitress hold a high stool for a lady to prevent her from tipping backwards as she got on the stool, the lady didn’t even know the waitress did it....that’s client care.
-Especially Mariela, the tour guide in Cusco...highly knowledgeable, passionate, personable and shows great care for the people she guides.
