INDIA TOURS

The Amber Fort is truly a sight to behold See the beauty of the ancient world at the Amber Fort in Jaipur, India

A tour of India gives travelers the opportunity to explore one of the most classic and beautiful cultures in the world, and few cities in the subcontinent have as much to offer as Jaipur. Known as "the pink city" due to the reddish stucco used in the construction of many local buildings, Jaipur is a bustling and beautiful city with a lot of character. Though there is much to see and do in the area, no visit to the region is complete without a stop at Amber Fort.

Located atop a hill overlooking the city of Amber, Amber Fort was once the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa clan of Amber from 1037 to 1727 AD. Over the years, the fort has become one of the most popular attractions in the area thanks in part to its unique architecture, which combines traits and stylistic flourishes typical in many native cultures like Hindu and Mughal people.

The four-level fort features a number of beautiful courtyards as well as gorgeous meeting halls, a smaller "mirror" palace and the uniquely cool Sukh Niwas, a room kept pleasant by winds blowing over the palace's water cascade.
