Brave the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver

While visiting Vancouver, travelers on Canada tours should consider leaving the urban jungle for memorable day trips to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain.

Not for the faint of heart but fun for intrepid travelers of all ages, the Capilano Suspension Bridge stretches 450 feet across a 230-foot canyon cut by the Capilano River. Set amidst beautiful West Coast rainforest, the bridge is part of 27-acre park that also includes a canopy tour and a variety of nature walks, making it an excellent destination for families and small groups of friends traveling together.

Located about 15 minutes from the heart of Vancouver, Grouse Mountain feels like a world away. For an unbeatable panoramic view of the city and surrounding area, travelers should take the chairlift to the top of the 4,100-foot mountain. Scenic trails crisscross the mountain. Guided tours are available, though visitors are also free to explore on their own.

Adventurous types can go paragliding on the mountain or fly through the trees on a zipline tour. Bird lovers can attend a special show featuring Peregrine falcons, red-tailed hawks and the impressive Golden Eagle, which according to National Geographic is the largest North American bird of prey and has been known to hunt animals as large as livestock.
