Scale the CN Tower in Toronto

Tourists who visit Toronto while on a tour of Canada won't want to miss a trip to the CN Tower, a breathtaking building that is the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.

First completed in 1976, the 1,815-foot-tall CN Tower was the world's tallest tower for 34 years, only losing the title after the construction of Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Canton Tower in Guangzhou. Although the tower is no longer the tallest in the world, it is still an iconic part of Toronto's skyline.

Visitors to the CN Tower scale the structure on an elevator that rises 1,136 feet in the air in just 58 seconds. Once the reach the building's main pod, they can enjoy amazing views of downtown Toronto. Tourists looking for a thrill can head to the Glass Floor, a 2.5-inch-thick clear panel that allows visitors to look more than 1,000 feet straight down.

Couples looking to share a romantic meal can head to Horizons Restaurant, a sky-high eatery that looks out over the city. The best views in the tower, however, can be found in the Sky Pod, a small deck 33 stories above the structure's main public area. Here, visitors can take in the scenery from 1,465 feet above the ground, giving them views that they will never forget.
