NORTH AMERICAN TOURS

Lake Louise is among the stunning views travelers enjoy on Canada's Icefields Parkway. Tour Canada's Rocky Mountains on the Icefields Parkway

There might be no better way for travelers on Canada tours to experience the grandeur of the Rockies than by taking a trip on the Icefields Parkway.

Running 142 miles between Banff and Jasper, through two national parks, the Icefields Parkway is one of the world's most spectacular, scenic roadways. Whether driving or mountain biking the parkway, travelers will be awed by magnificent, snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes and fields of glacial ice, and will likely spot an abundance of wildlife, including bears, elk, caribou and wolves.

The parkway takes its name from the icefields of its northern section, close to Jasper. The Athabasca glacier is among the most accessible of these remarkable fields, as here visitors are taken onto the ice in huge explorer vehicles that accommodate up to 56 people.

Further south, a number of mountain lakes reflect the majestic surrounding mountains. One of these, Cirrus Mountain, features a truly breathtaking 330-foot waterfall known as the Weeping Wall. Travelers along the parkway can choose to spend the night in lodges and resorts along the way or camp out under the stars.

Banff, the parkway's southern terminus, is a prime travel destination in its own right. A world-famous ski mecca during the winter, the beautiful town has plenty to offer at any time of year. Summertime activities include canoeing the Bow River, mountain biking and golfing.
