Washington, D.C. formally known as the District of Columbia is located on the north bank of the Potomac River, and is the capital of the United States. The District is not a part of any state and is directly overseen by the federal government. Here resides the heart of the country and what has made and continues to make everything accomplished possible. Home to the Capitol, Supreme Court and the White House where the President of the United States resides, this cosmopolitan district is also known for its museums and performing-arts venues where diverse exhibits are displayed ranging from theater, music and more.
