The Mara Explorer is a five star camp seated in a heavy forest on the Talek River’s shoulder, right in the center of the Masai Mara Reserve. Mara Explorer is managed by Kenya's first Masai lady manager, Tiito Mpetti, who also runs a community charity educating Maasai girls in her native Megwarra Village. Mara Explorer was constructed as an eco-friendly camp, and its operations are designed to have a minimal impact on the fragile Talek ecosystem. All biodegradable waste is mulched for compost, while water heating is quelled by briquettes made from used coffee husks. The camp offers 10 well appointed camps with double beds and twin beds. Those seated on their verandah are met with the ultimate view of the famed wildebeest migration and sights otherwise only seen on television. Dinner is served outdoors and overlooking the Talek River or on your veranda. Followed up by a game drive, the Mara Explorer offers a constant adrenaline rush for those looking for real life at their fingertips.
