Found atop the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa along the V&A Waterfront, The Silo Hotel has been lauded as the "talk of the town" by Conde Nast Traveller, and for good reason. The 28 rooms in this boutique property, remodeled from a silo built in 1921, feature incredible floor to ceiling windows that feature multi-faceted frames which balloon out to the streets below. Each room has been decorated by renowned style expert Liz Biden, who has aimed to prepare colorfoul lodgings accented by eclectic pieces that contrast between modern and industrial architecture. Day 2: Cape Town

Beat the crowds and start the day early with your private guide by visiting Cape Town’s most iconic landmark, Table Mountain. One of the most spectacularly bio-diverse places on Earth, an estimated 1,500 unique species of plant-life are found on Table Mountain alone, many of which are endemic and found nowhere else on the planet. Ascend by cable car as the mist from the clouds open up to the main plateau while striking views of Cape Town come into crystal-clear focus. Now with a better understanding of the city’s layout, walk past Cape Town’s storied past as your guide recounts the colorful histories of the Houses of Parliament, the Castle of Good Hope (South Africa’s oldest building) and the well-tended Company Gardens. Bargain your way through the lively Greenmarket Square in search of souvenir while meeting local artisans along the way. As you enter another one of Cape Town’s famed stop at Bo-Kaap, learn how the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly colored houses became one of city’ most vibrant neighborhoods. There’s no better way of understanding local history than through your Capetonian guide. From here you have the choice of being dropped off at the V&A Waterfront to experience this landmark at your own pace, with its many shops, restaurants and pubs - or at your hotel to end the tour. Should you choose to visit the waterfront, please speak to your Destination Expert for a range of recommendations for lunch.

From the V&A Waterfront helipad, settle into the comfort of a helicopter and prepare for a spectacular panoramic tour of the Mother City and its neighboring regions. Rotors spinning, ascend high above to catch a birds-eye view of the cities natural amphitheater and then whisk past the world-renowned beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, past the indomitable Twelve Apostles, as you trend southward toward Hout Bay and Fish Hoek. Watch in awe as the rugged beauty of Llandudno is revealed and as False Bay comes into focus. A little further along, the sprawling cliffs of Chapman’s Peak give way to the colorful beaches of Muizenberg which are followed by the bucolic and award-winning winelands of Constantia. With unparalleled precision, discover the Cape Peninsula’s incredible landscape on this 30 minute flight that is sure to be cherished by lovers, photographers, and families alike.

From street-side tapas to award winning cuisine, let our Destination Experts help you find the right dining option for your appetite. Some of our favorite spots include; Chef’s Warehouse, Bistro Sixteen82, The Foodbarn, Potluck Club, Plant, Shortmarket Club, Harbour House and Black Sheep Restaurant. To arrange reservations at any of these restaurants, speak to your Destination Expert. Please note: Reservations are subject to availability.

Day 3: Cape Town

After meeting your expert local guide in Cape Town, begin the day with a visit to one of the more popular leisure hubs for locals – the glorious beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, where impressive white sand beaches hug the shoreline with the Twelve Apostles as a stunning backdrop. Learn about the fascinating history of this breathtaking land from your Capetonian guide as you begin the spectacular sea-side drive to the quaint village of Hout Bay. After a stop in the village, you will track along the extraordinary Chapman’s Peak Drive, known as one of the most picturesque roadways world-wide. With the flexibility to spend as little or as long as you would like in this region crammed with incredible panoramic lookouts, the benefits of having a private vehicle and guide truly come into play. Further along you will reach the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where, at Cape Point, you will board a funicular or walk up the stairway that leads to the Cape Point Lighthouse; it is here that you will observe the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans while enjoying fantastic views of False Bay. Departing from Cape Point, head northward to Simon’s Town to enjoy lunch (included). Although the city is host to a number of tasty dining options, consider indulging in fresh-caught fish & chips, the town’s specialty. After a refreshing lunch and a bit of time to learn about Simon’s Town, set off with your camera ready to visit Boulders Beach, a nearby nature preserve that is home to a colony of African penguins. Wrapping up your day’s adventure, tour the idyllic Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a sprawling park brimming with rare and exotic plant-life that is surely one the finest examples of botany the world over, before being returned to your hotel.

Sophisticated fine dining, Japanese-Peruvian modern fusion, fresh-caught south Atlantic seafood, and farm-to-table organic delights complimented by incredible views and award-winning, locally-sourced wines; Cape Town has it all. Among many options for high-end dining in Cape Town, the most highly recommended by our Destination Experts are: Aubergine, Nobu, La Colombe, Signal, Roundhouse, The Test Kitchen, Greenhouse and La Moutte. To arrange reservations at any of these restaurants, speak to your Destination Expert. Please note: Reservations are subject to availability.

Day 4: Cape Town

The world-famous Cape Winelands are known for more than just their award-winning wines. The region, replete with mountain ranges, Cape Dutch-style homesteads, quaint towns and meticulously kept vineyards, is a veritable postcard throughout. Alongside your private guide, wind your way through the picturesque heart of the Cape Winelands to tour a few of the county’s most popular and innovative wineries – tastings included – and to explore Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Walk under the cover of centuries-old oak trees as you explore the many cafes, boutiques and art galleries that colonial Stellenbosch has to offer, a canal-lined university town in the Western Cape. Exiting the town, be sure to have your camera ready as you depart for Franschhoek through the scenic Helshoogte Pass. A town set within a gorgeous valley, Franschhoek was founded by French Huguenots in the 17th century and is often billed as the “gourmet capital of South Africa.” Enjoy a sample of fine wine at a local vineyard before testing the fabled culinary skills of local chefs at one of the many top-tier restaurants in town (your guide will make recommendations to suit your interests and appetite). Working your way back toward Cape Town, you will also visit Paarl, one of the first farming districts in South Africa which is also home to a cluster of granite domes that the town is named after. Here you will enjoy your third and final wine sample before being returned to your hotel after an absorbing and serene day in the Cape Winelands and countryside.

Day 5: Cape Town

After an early morning pick-up from your hotel, transfer to the little town of Klein Bay, close to Hermanus and Gansbaai. After a safety briefing, board the shark-chasing boat, Predator II, and set out on the five mile voyage to Dyer Island. The island, together with nearby Geyser Rock, is home to 40,000 Cape fur seals, choice prey of the great white shark. The channel, which runs between the two islands, is known as Shark Alley; here the Predator II anchor is lowered. Using a special chum designed to attract the sharks, you will soon have an opportunity to see them feeding at the surface, alongside the boat. A protective cage is then lowered and you are able to witness these incredible hunters of the deep in your wet-suit, protected by galvanized steel mesh. All diving equipment is supplied, and only snorkeling experience is required if you want to go down in the cage. A light lunch is served on the boat as well as refreshments. In addition to sharks, with a little luck you will have the opportunity to spot seals and whales. The boat returns to land at around 3:00pm ahead of your return transfer to Cape Town. Please note: While shark sightings are most frequent from early June to September, sightings cannot be guaranteed. In the event that no sharks are present during your experience, a refund of 25% of the excursion cost will be issued.

Day 6: Cape Town - Kalahari

Enjoy a private luxury transfer between your hotel and Cape Town airport.

Board a charter flight in Cape Town with service to Tswalu Airstrip. Approximate flight time is two hours.

Please note, strict luggage restrictions apply to this charter flight: Luggage is restricted to a maximum of 44 lbs (20 kg). All luggage must be soft-shell. Hard-case luggage will not be permitted on the charter plane. Space for extra luggage can be provided by purchasing an additional seat on the plane (allowing for up to 110 lbs of extra luggage).

Upon arrival into Tswalu you will meet up with the guides to go over all available activities and to customize your stay in the Kalahari.  We believe that the day’s activities should be created around your individual desires. A personal consultation on arrival ensures that we understand exactly what you want to do. Activities include: game drives, walking or horseback safaris, chat with Tswalu's specialist ecologists about your animal interests, meerkat encounters, or head off on a San bushman walk to paintings etched up to 380,000 years ago, some of the oldest art on Earth.

For those seeking adventure and romance, Tswalu Kalahari’s newly launched sleepout deck, The Malori (meaning ‘dreamer’ in Tswana), offers guests the unique experience of a safari sleepout on a magnificent 100,000ha five star private game reserve. Imagine sleeping in a luxury king-size bed on a raised deck in the middle of a game reserve, surrounded by the calls of nocturnal animals, with nothing between you and the brilliant stars of the Kalahari night sky…

Accommodation: Tswalu Kalahari

Tswalu Kalahari is South Africa’s largest private game reserve, covering an area of over 100,000 hectares. With only two properties on this massive reserve, no more than thirty guests at a time can discover the beauty of this landscape, its diverse wildlife, and the serenity of what may well be South Africa’s last great wilderness. The main property, the Motse, nestles at the foot of the Korannaberg mountains, facing westwards across the grasslands of the Kalahari. Motse means “village” in Tswana and our village consists of just nine spacious and secluded “legae” (another Tswana word, for “little house”) or suites. The second property, the Tarkuni Villa, is set amidst two rolling mountain ranges. For those seeking a world apart, stay in Tarkuni; the Oppenheimer family’s own personal home here at Tswalu and the ultimate private sanctuary.  This property was named one of National Geographic’s Most Unique Lodges in the World.

Day 7: Kalahari

Today enjoy time at leisure or head out on one of Tswalu's exceptional activities. For anyone with a particular passion, special talks can be arranged with the reserve’s ecologists. Photographers will find unending possibilities here at Tswalu, combining shots of unique wildlife with dazzling panoramas. Walks to ancient archaeological sites will reveal rock carvings created by the Bushmen up to 380,000 years ago, some of the oldest art on Earth. Enjoy a day or just a few hours on horseback where you can enjoy game viewing and sundowners. Children’s activities are also available for families on-site. Speak to the lodge about adding a Hot Air balloon ride or to sign up for soothing and revitalizing treatments at the exclusive Sanctuary spa. Sometimes the most exhilarating activity is no activity at all. Here at Tswalu the pools or shaded salas beckon; watch in silence as the sun slips below an endless horizon.

The male Kalahari lion with its black mane is a huge and gorgeous animal, recently described by the UK’s Daily Telegraph as being “worth 10 of any other”. This magical footage shows one of Tswalu’s adult males together with another creature on whom this eco-system depends - the termite.

A Tswalu Kalahari Safari experience is very different. Tswalu offers unrivaled privacy in a vast, pristine wilderness. We have a maximum of six vehicles in over 100,000 hectares. As Nicky Oppenheimer says, “If you see another Land Rover, complain!”

Expert Field Guides have been specially trained in Kalahari wildlife and each contributes personally to the constant programme of research and conservation on our reserve. Game drives at Tswalu Kalahari will be completely tailored to your own interests. As well as discovering many rare and endangered species for the first time, every guest leaves with a deep appreciation of the beauty of this entire eco-system.

Your  guide will take through South Africa's largest private game reserve covering an area of over 100,000 hectares. Home to one third of South Africa's entire remaining desert black rhino population, Tswalu's successful conservation efforts have preserved the area's natural landscape with over 70 mammals and 230 species of birds. Spend the afternoon tracking the black-maned Kalahari lions, cheetah's or rare antelope such as roan, sable and tsessebe. The reserve is also home to fantastic Meerkat viewing with 2 colonies that have grown to trust people and allow close appproach and observation.

Day 8: Kalahari

Spend the morning bonding with the Meerkats before they go foraging for the day. Tswalu has exceptional Meerkat viewing with 2 colonies that have grown to trust people and allow close approach and observation.

Tswalu is MALARIA FREE and has superlative game and offers sightings of some of South Africa’s rarest and most extraordinary wildlife with over 70 species of mammal and 230 species of birds (including endangered raptors). Other sightings may include the elusive aardvark, aardwolf, pangolin and porcupine

Bush walks are encouraged at Tswalu. We want people to get even closer to the land. To touch the unique vegetation (and learn about some plants’ extraordinary properties). To inspect nests and burrows. To examine the smallest insect. A morning can begin by walking to a meerkat colony and watching these engaging mammals warm themselves in the sunshine before they scamper off to forage. Night walks are now also possible, offering the chance of exceptional sightings such as aardvark, aardwolf, porcupine or brown hyena at even closer range.

Spectacular, untamed and coveted by outdoor enthusiasts, Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve is revered for good reason; it is one of the best locations in the world to spot game, including the Big 5. On the Sabi, massive elephants roam as families, black and white Rhinoceros graze the grasslands, Cape buffalo cautiously track along riverbeds, leopard’s prowl, and lions roar. Discover this unbound land for yourself as you head out on your first afternoon game drive alongside your ranger, tracker and other guests of the lodge. Explore this incredible land for a few hours with a camera in hand, gaining insights into the region as the sun sets. Before long you will find yourself back at the lodge, just in time to prepare for an outstanding safari dinner under the stars.

Day 10: Sabi Sands

Before first light, gear up and head out to further explore Sabi Sands. Sunrise and sunset are when the animals are most active; in particular, herds of elephants roam the expanses of the Sabi in the morning hours as the glow of dawn radiates. Although the largest living mammal is well-known to most, there is nothing quite like seeing a herd of up to a hundred elephants freely wandering through the open plains; it is sight few people will get to enjoy and that none will forget. After a few hours out in the reserve you will be returned to your lodge for breakfast to enjoy a satisfying and well-earned breakfast.

With the afternoon in full-swing, it is time to head out on an open 4x4 vehicle for another afternoon of game viewing. With the sweltering sun on the decline, nocturnal animals begin their nightly routines. Along well-marked roads or entirely off the beaten path, your tracker will bring you into the heart of the Sabi in search of both predator and prey. On the trail of the king of jungle, perhaps you will be fortunate enough to witness a pride on the hunt. Sit back and relax, always with a hand ready for to snap photos of your favorite animals, as you explore the land for a few hours before returning to camp to freshen up ahead of another incredible dinner.

Day 11: Sabi Sands

As in mornings past, you will rise before the sun to explore the African savannah to head out on another game drive. Sabi Sands is the oldest private game reserve in South Africa. Named for the Sand and Sabie rivers that run through the reserve, it is home to many endangered species such as the wild dog, honey badger, ground hornbill and the oxpecker. Who knows what rare animals you will spot today as you explore the Sabi reserve ahead of another exceptional breakfast?

Following lunch, venture back into the bush. Both the rare Black (hook-lipped) and White (square-lipped) rhinos wander the reserve and the afternoon is fantastic time to spot these powerful, beautiful and endangered creatures. If you are lucky enough, you may spot a crash of rhinos grazing as the sun dips below the horizon. After a few hours, you will return to the lodge to refresh before a freshly-prepared dinner.

The Silo Hotel: Cape Town

An indulgent on-site spa offers several premium treatments and therapies, while the various dining options feature a range of casual and contemporary menus designed by Executive Chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert.

Tswalu Kalahari: Kalahari
