These suites have an open plan lounge area, with contemporary bathroom layouts and fittings; including free standing baths, rain showers and double basins ipod docking stations, wifi IP phones, personal refreshment bars, and complimentary wifi. The Grand Chateau has an upstairs communal relaxation area with an all-day complimentary tea and coffee station, large fireplace and access to complimentary wifi. The upstairs balcony overlooks a private garden. Ramped wheel-chair access and a lift have been incorporated into the design, as well as easy vehicular drop off and collection right to the grand entrance stairs. The Grand Chateau building has been built to Green standards, to lessen the impact of our hotel on our immediate environment. This includes among other things the latest in solar heating technology for the water and under floor heating system, a grey water system, double glazed windows for insulation, as well as natural and local environmentally friendly products and materials which have been used wherever possible, as well as a heat exchange cooling system.
The 12 Courtyard Suites are named because the U shape of the buildings form an elegant courtyard graced by a formal garden. These Suites are all individually decorated, 54m2 suites with beautiful hand-painted techniques, high corniced ceilings, sumptuous fabrics and custom made classical furniture. The spacious bathrooms are fully equipped with bidets, marble vanities, large separate showers and baths. Working fireplaces enhance the romanticism of the suites.
The 6 Villa Suites overlook the rolling gardens, and are named after such distinguished men and women as Emily Hobhouse, Jan Smuts, Nelson Mandela, The Dalai Lama, Harry Oppenheimer and Mahatma Gandhi, all with some connection to either the history of the property or the history of South Africa. These luxurious 84m2 suites open onto or overlook an oak-shaded terrace. Each has been individually designed, both architecturally and decoratively. Some have guest cloakrooms, all but one have separate lounges, and all are equipped with double basins, bidets, separate showers and jet baths, as well as under-tile floor heating in the bathrooms, heated towel rails and working fireplaces. As in all the Fairlawns Suites, special attention has been given to the small details that make a difference – books, bedside tea-light holders, selected artwork, antiques and bespoke furniture. Each room is unique and provides a welcoming and homely touch.
Dining at the Fairlawns is designed to be elegantly smart casual. The candlelit tables and soft music give an enchantingly intimate and romantic atmosphere to the Italian influenced décor of the terrace restaurant. The finer details like beautiful linen, crockery and silver cutlery are however, an integral part of the experience. The Restaurant boasts an exquisite menu, paired with the Diamond Award Winning wine list. Private Dining can be arranged upon request in one of the exclusive venues. The private dining venue can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests. Should you be interested in a larger banqueting event staff can host up to 60 guests in the larger banqueting venue.
