Kapama Karula, “the place of peace,” is found on the banks of the Klaserie River. Flowing year-round, the river attracts an incredible array of riverine animals and birdlife that can often be seen from the private decks and swimming pools that adorn each suite. Nestled in the heart of Kapama Private Game Reserve, the lodge offers guests the utmost in luxurious accommodations without sacrificing the natural splendor of the region. Large sliding glass doors ensure stunning views from the comfort of your bed, and temperature control guarantees a comfortable night’s sleep. Gourmet meals prepared daily are sure to delight, and the Karula Spa and Fitness Centre offer guests deluxe treatments to refresh and invigorate.
Kapama Karula has ten superior suites, each exquisitely decorated and offering generous private space. Each suite measures 1400 square feet and includes an opulent en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, his and hers basins, and a bath. Suites also feature a minibar stocked with a selection of fine wines and champagne, a Nespresso coffee machine, safe, an international adaptor, Wi-Fi connection, an iPod docking station, telephone, overhead fan and air conditioning, as well as a gas-heated fireplace for cool winter nights. Wrapped by glass sliding doors, the suites offer seamless views over the Klaserie River. Each suite also has its own private deck with a full-size, heated swimming pool and sun loungers.
Two of the superior suites, each measuring 1830 square feet, are purpose-built for families. These Superior Family Suites have an open-concept living room which flows into the master bedroom. The second bedroom can also be reached through the living room or through its private entrance, and is most suitable for children as it is equipped with a flat-screen TV, a selection of movies and a Wii gaming console. All other amenities standard to the Superior Suites are included: well-stocked minibars including a selection of wines and champagne, a Nespresso coffee machine, air-conditioning, overhead fans, a telephone, Wi-Fi and an iPod docking station. Each family suite also has a private outside deck and a large swimming pool, which is heated in the chillier months for year-round swimming. The large living room features a fireplace, and each of the two bedrooms has a private en-suite bathroom.
The open-concept lounge and bar is both spacious and cozy. Skylights draw in the beaming afternoon sun and evening moon. Outdoors, the large wooden deck offers views over the Klaserie River where leopards are often spotted. Meals are prepared fresh each and every day, and nearly every dietary restriction can be accommodated.
