Day 2: Arusha - Manyara - Ngorongoro

Your guide will pick you up in Arusha and drive you to Lake Manyara National park for some game drive before driving you to the impressive Ngorongoro crater.

Lake Manyara National Park, is best known for baboons and tree climbing lions. However your skilled guide will point out the numerous herbivores that make this park their home such as hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs and giraffes. This scenic National park has the wall of the Great Rift Valley on one side, and the lake on the other, making it incredibly beautiful for photography opportunities.

Stop in and visit the Manyara region which is best known for its baboon population. In addition, this area has many herbivores such as hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs and giraffes. Some lucky visitors have even spotted the rare tree climbing lion here. The giant fig trees and mahogany trees are seen in the groundwater forest immediately around the park gates, which draw nourishment from the underground springs that are replenished continuously from crater highlands directly above the Manyara basin. Afterward, continue on to your next destination.

Accommodation: Acacia Farm Lodge

Acacia Farm Lodge is a romantic Country Lodge nestled in an active mixed farm located high on the spectacular Great Rift’s escarpment area with commanding panoramic views of the amazing Karatu farmlands and the nearby Ngorongoro forest area. Day 3: Ngorongoro

You are provided with a personalized, experienced tracker-guide and private transportation today whilst exploring around the Ngorongoro National Park grounds.

Explore one of the most recognized wildlife conservation areas in Tanzania today.  Depart your camp or lodge in a privately driven vehicle, along with a local expert guide, for an approximately 20 to 30 minute drive towards the Ngorongoro Park Gate.  It will then take you another 20 minutes to reach the crater rim itself.   The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera.  This geological masterpiece was formed as a result of an extremely large volcanic explosion which caused the volcano to collapse in on itself, thus creating a crater.  The crater is roughly 20 kilometers wide and some 2000 feet deep, making the trip from crater floor to rim around 45 minutes by 4x4.  The extremely fertile crater floor is the reason why there is such a highly concentrated amount of wildlife here.  Over 20000 mammals call the crater home, including some of the only remaining black rhinos in the world.  The crater floor also boasts one of the highest carnivore densities in the world including large prides of lions, packs of hyenas and solitary predators like cheetahs and jackals.  A keen eye and expertly recommended search patterns from your guide, may help you spot some of the less common species like leopards, servals, and bat-eared foxes.

Day 5: Serengeti

You'll join up with others at the lodge for your game drive. Drives are typically done in the morning at 6:30am for a few hours and/or 4pm for a few hours. Head out into the park to explore the vast expanse of the Serengeti.

Serengeti was once known as Maasailand, home to fierce warriors who lived alongside wild animals and off the natural resources of their land. These people can still be found today, as far away as Masai Mara in Kenya. You will be lucky enough to meet the people of the enduring Masai tribe during your safari. At some point during your stay in the Serengeti, you might be fortunate enough to drive by a number of bodies of water, which are great places to spot wildlife. These areas are a photographer's delight where with any luck, you'll be able to take amazing pictures of the hippos, crocodiles, and elephants in the water.

Day 6: Serengeti

Today you'll set out early on your morning game drive with lodge vehicle and guide. The Serengeti houses an abundance of wildlife. It is home to the millions of wildebeest, Thomson's gazelle and Zebra between late October and August. Another great time to visit the Serengeti is between December and March, because the plains are green and lush after the short rains in November and the animals are well fed and prepared for the calving season in February. At this time, the wildebeest migration should be in the southern plains of the Serengeti, and young cubs and calves can be spotted early in the year. Big game such as lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, and elephant, as well as giraffes, impala, gazelle, and zebra are abundant and can be spotted on safari in Tanzania year round.

You will have the choice of twice-daily game drives during your stay at the migration camp. You'll join up with others from the lodge for your activities, with a maximum of 6 people per vehicle. When the camp is in the north, a crossing point directly in front of camp allows for spectacular game viewing whilst enjoying breakfast. While in the southern Serengeti plains, you will have the chance to spot the migration, lions, cheetah and other big game among the plains, soda lakes and bush. Whether the camp is on the Mara River in the North or the Southern Plains of Ndutu, the aim is to get you as close to the thick of the action as possible. Game drives can be either half day or full day with a picnic bush lunch enjoyed overlooking the Serengeti plains.

  • Robert M — August 22, 2017 — Africa

It was simply an amazing trip! Our guide and driver were the best. Everything went smoothly and they made life very easy for us. I would not hesitate to recommend Kensington to anyone. Hotels were unique and exceeded expectations. Thank you for the significant room upgrade at the 4 Seasons on our last night. That was a huge surprise!

  • Mike Desmarais — July 20, 2017 — Africa

Went on a tour in Morocco with Kensington tours. We visited the cities of Casablanca, Tangier & Chefchaouen and had a wonderful time. Our guide (Mohammed Salmi) and driver (Eunice) were absolutely excellent and very professional. Mohammed was very knowledgeable regarding the cities and places we visited. Mohammed spoke very good English and was easy to talk with and a pleasure to be with for the 6 days we were in Morocco. We could not have asked for a better guide and/or driver during our time in Morocco. Our vehicle was a newer model Mercedes van that was very comfortable to be in for the long drives we had between cities, and our hotels were much better than expected.

  • Misty N — August 22, 2017 — Africa

This was our 4th Kensington Trip (second to South Africa), I cannot say enough about Andrew Drummond and his ability to put a PERFECT trip together. I trust him completely and would plan trips with him over and over. Now looking at a trip to Peru and yes, we are talking to a professional at Kensington.

  • David S — September 08, 2017 — Africa

This tour exceeded our expectations in all respects! Only words cannot describe the adventure.

  • Barbara Cox — August 03, 2017 — Africa

Christine did a fabulous job planning our safari. We followed the migration from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara staying in an assortment of tented camps. We loved ALL our guides and drivers (Duncan, Waziri and Charles).

  • Edward C. — March 24, 2017 — Africa

Our guide and driver were above and beyond our expectations.

  • Mary Ann B — March 17, 2017 — Africa

I would definitely recommend Kensington Tours. Very well pleased with everything they provided. Accommodations were excellent as well as tour guides. Gareth at Kensington was a tremendous help in planning our trip. Thank you so much Kensington for a great trip to South Africa.

  • Elizabeth E — February 07, 2017 — Africa

Both our guides from Rwanda to Tanzania were the best. Everything was FLAWLESS, the guides, transportation, the accommodations, the food, the safaris, etc. We actually went to the villagers home and met the kids who performed their native dance for us. It really was an emotional connection that was one of the highlights of the whole trip for us. Thanks so much for putting this all together for us!

  • Katie M. — August 10, 2016 — Africa

Our Kensington Tour to Tanzania was excellent. All of our accommodations were top-notch, our flights were fantastic, and every single detail was taken care of. We were extremely impressed with how welcoming and knowledgeable our guides were.

  • Neal F. — August 10, 2016 — Africa

Best trip ever. Sarah was a delight to work with and answered all of our questions and concerns professionally and courteously. It was a trip of a lifetime and everything was fantastic. Thank u Sarah and thank you Kensington
