High on the Nteko Ridge, above the swirling clouds, above the deep emerald, Impenetrable Bwindi Forest where the rare and wonderful mountain gorillas of Uganda make their home, lies a luxury retreat for visitors to the national park. Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is the first of its kind here, part of the IGCP’s tri-national program that benefits both the local community and a vital conservation program working hard to ensure the gorillas’ survival. Located in the southern part of the park, the lodge is just steps away from the trailhead for tracking the Nkuringo gorilla family (the largest and friendliest of Bwindi’s accessible troops), making it an ideal base for travellers.
Eight stone cottages built of the local volcanic rock all have their own large lounge area with fireplace (in bedroom and lounge), spacious patio with views over the Virungas, comfortable beds and huge bathrooms. Six cottages are double/twin and 2 cottages perfect for families with two separate en-suite private bedrooms and shared lounge area.
Enjoy local delicacies fresh from the kitchen, while a private butler ensures you have everything you need during your stay.
Gorilla tracking access to all 6 Southern Bwindi Mountain Gorilla groups (1 group’s start point is at the main gate of the lodge and 5 groups are a 40-minute drive away), community walks, Batwa community tours, forest walks, birding.
