The Mchenja Camp is located in a stunning setting beneath the magnificent groves of trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. It is situated in an area rich in wildlife. Mchenja Camp takes luxury to the bush. The camp comprises of five stylishly designed tents, each under its own thatched roof and with a deck in front overlooking the Luangwa River. The tents have inside baths with an outside shower room. There is a small pool alongside the bar within the thatched main chitenje, allowing guests to seek cool refuge after their morning's safari activities.
With only four specially designed octagonal canvas and thatched chalets built on concrete bases, and one two-bedroom family unit, Mchenja is an intimate affair. Simple but wonderfully maintained the chalets are well sized and include large honeymoon size beds, an indoor Victorian-style bath with a river view and open air but private outdoor facilities featuring flush WC, basin and shower.
Where and when possible, the highly trained culinary staff uses local products to create authentic meals and help boast the local economy. Most meals are served buffet-style, with dinner consisting of a three-course meal. All meals are freshly prepared at the camp and are served either in the main dining area or in the guest suites.
The Mchenja Camp boasts a refreshing plunge pool and bar, the ideal stop to cool down after a day in the sun. The pool is located close to the river, providing an excellent view.
