Day 1: Denpasar (Bali) - Ubud (Bali)

Touching down in Bali, avoid arrival queues with fast-track service through Immigration and Customs. You’ll be greeted by an airport representative after exiting your plane, escorted through the Visa on Arrival process, baggage claim and then ushered to your awaiting private guide.

After meeting your guide and round of introductions, settle into your private vehicle and relax as you are transferred to your accommodations. Upon arrival, your guide will assist with check-in and along the way, answer any questions you may have.

Accommodation: Komaneka at Bisma

Komaneka at Bisma is about grand spaces, luxurious interiors, and a heart-lifting panorama over a valley of tropical rain forest - all just a 10-minute walk from Ubud's Main Street. The resort's iconic lap pool is the jewel of this beautiful resort. Nestled in the tropical gardens are the resort's own rice fields, a Spa Villa with adjacent semi-circular leisure pool, and a jogging path. The Suite Rooms have broad balconies and beautifully appointed living spaces. Blending modern luxuries with cultural appreciation, Komaneka at Bisma has an irresistible charm.

Day 2: Ubud (Bali)

Ubud is changing fast, and today you’re invited you to witness it at its golden hour of dawn. A favorite morning walk for locals and visitors alike, start in the early morning and stroll through the Ubud Market, village lanes, fields and forest. After witnessing sunrise, often accompanied by herons taking flight, a simple picnic is served in a farmer's hut high up in the rice fields north of Ubud where you’ll soak in the morning ambiance. Yes, many of the sights on this walk are very picturesque but be warned that there is much development ongoing throughout Ubud that cannot be avoided. Rounding off the experience, settle in for a well-earned foot massage to relax the muscles after a solid walk.

Arriving into Bali from distant lands, guests often find it takes a while to adjust to the new time-zone and to overcome jet-lag. Following an overnight flight, guests are typically spry and active in the early hours of the day, but then – most commonly – are ready for bed in the afternoon. Today, set yourself up for the days to come with an afternoon at leisure. As soon as you’re able to, you’re encouraged to rest for the evening so as to prepare for the days to come, and should you find yourself with energy to spare, perhaps a few laps in the resorts on-site pool are in order.

Day 3: Ubud (Bali)

On this full day exploration of Ubud, you’re invited to discover a range of striking and revered sites in the region. Goa Gajah Temple, also known as the Elephant Cave, will be your first stop of the day. Built in the 9th century, it features bathing pools and fountains and has been used as a meditation center since the 11th Century. Afterwards, continue to the archaeological site of Gunung Kawi. Legend has it that the giant Kebo Iwa carved the immense shrines on the caves using just his fingernails. What we know for sure is that this is one of the oldest temples in Bali, possibly dating from the 11th century. It is unlike anything else on the island, retaining a unique aura about it. If you choose to go down, please ensure you have enough energy to climb up again! Continuing the adventure, you’ll visit Tirta Empul, a water temple where locals go to take purifying baths on the waters that rush down from the river. The special water (or Tirta in Balinese) is believed to have healing properties. If you want to partake on the purification ritual bring a bathing suit and a sarong as well. Afterward, drive up to Penelokan near Kintamani and enjoy the stunning views of Mount Batur and its crater lake. The day would not be complete without a visit to the Tegalalang rice terraces, arguably one of the most picturesque landscapes in all of Bali, these beautiful and exquisite rice fields are precisely situated on the hill bank. Take in the gorgeous panoramic views, then relax as you are returned to your hotel.

Mingle with locals going about their everyday lives in the market, enjoy a light snack, then head to class school and get cooking in the open-air kitchen. As enticing aromas fill in the air, your instructor will assist in the preparation of your meal, which you will dine on as soon as its ready. Following lunch, you will be returned to your hotel.

Traveling from Ubud to Seminyak, take the time to discover a few incredible sites along the way. After meeting your guide and driver, set off to explore idyllic sites in the heart of the Tabanan Regency. The trip starts with a panoramic journey uphill towards Mount Batukaru, then continues onward to Jatiluwih’s UNESCO recognized rice fields; incredible terraces that seems to stretch endlessly. Here you’ll take in the striking vista while learning about the traditional techniques used by Balinese farmers to irrigate their crops. Afterwards, visit the Royal Temple of Mengwi which was built in 1634 to serve as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty. Admire this superb piece of historic architecture that is surrounded by a moat and features multi–roofed Meru shrines as well as intricately carved wooden gates. Arriving in Seminyak in the afternoon, you will be delivered to your hotel, at which time you can unwind before dinner or perhaps head to the beach for a quick dip.

Day 6: Seminyak (Bali)

In 1942, the USAT Liberty – a cargo ship with the US Army – was torpedoed off the coast of Bali by Japanese submarine I-66. Since then, the ship wreckage has attracted a range of divers who come to explore the 410-foot vessel, as well as the incredible array of coral and marine life that have made the Liberty their home. For guests who do not dive, an alternative adventure allows you to calmly inspect the areas vibrant coral reefs on a snorkeling excursion; Seraya Secrets and Noisy Reef, where an unusual array of marine life can be found at any time of day, is a particular highlight. Sea conditions are generally excellent in the Tulamben sites, usually unaffected by the current. The water temperature is typically warm, and the sun is almost always shining. With an array of macro life very hard to compare to anywhere in the region along with fantastic night dives, Tulamben has something for divers and snorkelers of all experience levels and interests.

  • Tin T — June 22, 2019 — Asia

The trip was fantastic, well planned, great tour guys. That was a trip of a lifetime and Kensington Tours had done an exceptional well in organizing from the fly to Japan, Hong Kong, Bali & Singapore to the hotels, daily tours with the level of details and places we wouldn't have known where to go. Can't wait for Kensington Tours to organize our 3rd trip in the near future!

  • Ann M — June 20, 2019 — Asia

Asia Expert Yuki Ng did an amazing job of setting up our trip. She totally understood what we wanted to see and do. My husband, 17-year-old grandson and I spent a week in Seoul in June of 2019. Miriam, also known as CJ, our local guide in Seoul, was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. We totally enjoyed our time with her. We learned so much about the history and culture of Korea and with her expert guidance, we were introduced to many different and delicious Korean foods. Our lunches with her were memorable not only for the variety of restaurants and dishes that we sampled but also for the stimulating and pleasant conversations we shared while eating. She also made several suggestions for things to do in the evening that added to our enjoyment of the city. We were truly fortunate to have Miriam as our guide. Our driver Mr. Jo was also great. He calmly and expertly navigated the congested streets of Seoul and always greeted us with a smile and a pleasant ‘good morning.’ We had not been to Seoul before this trip. We found it to be vibrant, beautiful, and very clean. The people were friendly and helpful. Our accommodations were beyond what we expected. We had a wonderful time in Seoul. We could not have been more pleased.

  • Anne H — May 28, 2019 — Asia

My trip was a dream come true! From the time I landed in Beijing to the time I landed back to the US, everything was perfect. I traveled alone, but felt very safe and very well taken care of by the guides and drivers I had in the different cities and countries I visited. I learned so much about the culture and heritage of the Chinese, Tibetan and the Nepalese people. It was worth every penny I spend and much more!

  • Jackie M — March 30, 2019 — Asia

I loved it all. Thanks especially to our guide Abit, in Kathmandu, Norenda, in Pokhara, and Min, in the Annapurna region, for being fabulous people. Thanks again for also referring us to Bahari Lodge in Chitwan National park. By far, that was the best place I've ever stayed in all of my international travels: they always had a surprise in store for us, that was awesome. They let us spend as much time as we wanted with the elephants, no rush, and sent elephants to come and play with us when we merely mentioned that we loved them. A great thank you to our naturalis Krishna at Bahari Lodge in Chitwan. All fantastic people who were great with tourists like us. We also enjoyed Temple Tree Resort very much.

  • Reginald B — April 14, 2019 — Asia

This was a GREAT tour to Thailand! It exceeded my expectations in many ways (ie. itinerary, flexibility, and customer service). I would recommend this tour and Kensington Tours to family and friends. I will definitely use Kensington Tours for my future travel plans. My destination expert was Ms. Forkan. She expertly tailored my experience to my needs and wants. She filled in all the "unknowns" and ensured a safe, smooth trip/tour. Her professionalism and support was a 10/10. Thank you Ms. Forkan for designing this trip of a lifetime!

  • Ann L — June 05, 2019 — Asia

Our guides made our whole trip - we will remember them as much as China itself. Jerry immediately put us at ease and made us feel like his best friends - he was sincere and authentic and open. Katy (in Chengdu) had great energy and showed us how people really live. Even though she must see the pandas every other day of her life, she still seemed to genuinely LOVE seeing them. (And, later, when we discovered we'd left valuables in the safe at our hotel, she went WAY above and beyond to take care of things - even after we were already in Shanghai!). Nancy (in Shanghai) was amazing - we truly enjoyed our time with her and she took us to markets and encouraged us to take our time at the places that interested us most. When we'd seen enough temples, our guides communicated with each other to rearrange our tours in coming destinations. We felt like we were on the food tour of China - the meals were wonderful, and it was - really - TOO MUCH FOOD! No part of our day was wasted, but if we wanted to start later or call it a night sooner, plans were easily rearranged. We would absolutely go with Kensington again!

  • Sandra S — February 09, 2019 — Asia

We had a really interesting trip and your team made it all so easy. Our guides were not only informative, but they took very good care of us. They kept us on schedule with all the city transfers, made the Visa process so quick and introduced us to some of the things they loved about their cities as well as the scheduled sites. There were so many highlights on this trip, but I was especially wowed by the cruise on Ha Long Bay. Our guide in Hanoi went above and beyond on my birthday and arrived to pick us up with some beautiful orchids and a lovely gift. We were very happy with all our accommodations as well.

  • Daryl H. — January 26, 2019 — Asia

I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the superb attention to detail in fulfilling my requests and my dreams

  • Laura E. — January 08, 2019 — Asia

One of the benefits was that the guides were very flexible and suggested and accommodated changes to plans based on the weather and other circumstances. They all said they could do this when working with Kensington because Kensington supported it and empowered them with this flexibility. A big advantage in making the trip perfect!

  • Ajitkumar P. — January 04, 2019 — Asia

The whole trip was well organized and we have recommended using Kensington to our friends.
