Day 2: Sydney

Your day begins at 9:30 am when you will be greeted by your local tour guide and his vintage 1964 holden, the most popular and iconic luxury car ever made in Australia. After a scenic drive around The Rocks – Sydney’s first borough – you will arrive at your first destination. With your guides insider knowledge, you will have the chance to discover a thriving inner-city enclave like a local, where Aboriginal murals and street art decorate laneways lined with coffee shops and turn-of-the-century terrace houses. Get ready for an education on everything from architecture to soaring house prices, local lifestyle and Aboriginal culture. As no trip to Sydney would be complete without a visit to its iconic beaches you will be taken to a sprawling seaside cemetery, a site that provides breathtaking views of the ancient sandstone coastline. From there, you will be whisked off to three of Sydney’s most iconic beaches: Bronte, Tamarama, and world-famous Bondi. Ask your guide to wind down the windows so that you can breathe the fresh eucalyptus as you weave through the hills of Sydney's most exclusive suburbs’ in the midst of the Sydney Harbour National Park. Led down a secret street, you will emerge at your final destination: a remote beach with panoramic views of the harbor and city skyline. Here, you can choose to be left to your own devices, or be returned to your hotel.

Join a shared whale watching cruise from Sydney to observe humpback whales migrating from Antarctica to the Great Barrier Reef and back. The tour specializes in providing exhilarating, top-quality eco-adventures suitable for people of all ages. Over the course of this four hour whale watching harbor cruise you’ll enjoy a barbeque lunch in the company of an experienced, fully-qualified crew and on-board marine biologist with extensive knowledge and unbridled enthusiasm. The 69-foot catamaran "MV Jerry Bailey" is ideal for all sorts of weather conditions and has various viewing platforms that afford marvelous views at the beauty of these magnificent creatures. This cruise also provides informative commentary on whales, including statistics, information on their migratory patterns and interesting facts regarding their behavior. The cruise departs at 12:15 pm at King Street Wharf # 8 and returns at 4:15 pm with a maximum group size of 96 guests. Whale season is from May to November.

Day 3: Sydney

Blue Mountains National Park is one of seven national parks that make up the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. This wonderland of sandstone outcrops, deep ravines and hazy blue eucalypt forests boasts luxury retreats and striking views, and today’s small group adventure will take you off the beaten track to visit several remote lookouts while detailing the history, flora and fauna of this impressive region. Departing from the city, travel to the Blue Mountains and make your first stop of the day at Euroka Clearing. Here, a range of birdlife as well as wild kangaroos are often spotted, so be sure to keep on the lookout as you explore the area and while your guide prepares a refreshing morning tea or coffee. From Euroka Clearing, ascend further into the Blue Mountains park system, stopping to take in the views from one of the fantastic outlooks over the Jamison Valley, then carry onward to Eaglehawk Lookout, a remote point removed from the crowds to appreciate the famous Three Sisters. Snap a few keepsake photos while your guide discusses the legends behind this famous rock formation, and then head toward the village of Blackheath to enjoy an included two-course lunch at Hydro Majestic (drinks not included). Following lunch, visit Govetts Leap, one of the most famous lookouts in Australia; here, a magnificent waterfall drops a whopping 590 feet from the base of a cliff down to the valley below. Next you’ll travel to the western boundary of the park and descend down into Hartley Vale to learn the history of this picturesque farmland valley that is also home to kangaroos, emus and a number of endemic bird species. Rounding out the day, visit the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens for a brief inspection of the flora which includes the ancient Wollemi Pine before being returned to your accommodations in Sydney.

Kensington Tours did a great job in setting up our itinerary for a trip to Australia. We were wowed by the Alamanda Resort hotel in Palm Cove, Queensland. Colin Rowe was fabulous. He showed real concern for our comfort and was always there to answer our questions. He is very knowledgeable and a real asset to your organization. We would ask for him by name if we travel again. The meals were delightful, and the tour guides were not only well versed in the culture and surroundings, but offered delightful personal stories during the ride that enhanced our trip. Our accommodations were excellent - both the Four Points Sheraton in Perth and the Radisson Blu in Sydney were first class. Clean and very comfortable. Overall, a wonderful trip!
