One of humankind’s most advanced, enduring, and mysterious early civilizations, ancient Egypt fascinates modern scholars all the more with each new artifact its archaeological sites yield. So much is known about the pharaohs who ruled the banks of the Nile, and yet there is still so much more to learn. Join us on this exclusive Explorers Club Collection journey that takes you deep into the heart of the ancient kingdom’s monuments, tombs, and museums and walk in the dusty footsteps of history, as scholars, Egyptologists, and expert guides separate fable from fact.

We begin in two Egyptian capitals: modern Cairo and nearby Memphis, the center of the ancient world, where you’ll embark on a full-day private tour of the area’s many archaeological sites, including the necropolises of Sakara, the reconstructed Khufu ship, the Great Pyramid at Giza, and the mysterious Sphinx. Next, head south to Minya and spend two full days exploring the ruins, catacombs, and rock-cut tombs of Tell el-Amarna, the city Akhetaton founded after he abandoned the god Amon. Returning to Cairo, your next stop is Luxor and the Nile’s West Bank, where you’ll venture into the Valley of the Kings to tour three famed tombs — including Tutankhamun’s — before visiting the temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, and the tomb of Nefertari, one of Luxor’s most beautiful and best-preserved sites. Later, walk the Avenue of the Sphinx and explore the massive temples of Karnak and Luxor on the Nile’s East Bank on a private half-day expedition led by an Egyptologist guide. In Aswan, you’ll visit the Temple of Horus, the falcon god whose eyes were the sun and moon, before moving on to stunning Abu Simbel, the onetime southern edge of dynastic Egypt. Here, you’ll dedicate two days touring the grounds of this incredible monument to Ramses II, including a guided safari and a private cruise on Lake Nasser before returning again to Cairo for a full-day private tour of the Egyptian Museum, where a skilled Egyptologist will introduce you to incredibly well-preserved mummies, the priceless treasures of Tutankhamun, and other artifacts. ... Beni Hasan is a small village, south of el-Minya, where an important group of rock-cut tombs are carved into the high limestone cliffs on the east bank of the Nile. The tombs date mostly to Dynasties XI and XII, although there are a few smaller and less elaborate ones belonging to Dynasty VI when provincial rulers had begun to establish their independent power along the Nile Valley. Day 5: Cairo - Luxor

A transfer in private vehicle with English speaking driver between Cairo and the airport is provided.

Take your flight from Cairo to Luxor. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour.

An airport transfer with a private vehicle and English-speaking driver in Luxor is provided.

This morning you will meet up with your guide and explore some of the most incredible sites of the country. You will visit the Valley of the Kings where you will have the chance to explore three tombs including the famous Tutankhamun Tomb (King Tut's Tomb). For a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, tombs were constructed for the kings and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom (the Eighteenth to the Twentieth Dynasties of Ancient Egypt). The valley stands on the west bank of the Nile, opposite modern Luxor. Then it's off to the nearby Valley of the Queens and also the recently renovated mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was the second pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. She is generally regarded by Egyptologists as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty. The tour includes a visit to the huge Colossi of Memnon which are all that remain of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III.

Nefertari is the most beautiful and well preserved tomb in all of Luxor. Recently re-opened, being closed for public visit for years and open only for private visits that needed special permit. The tomb itself is primarily focused on the Queen’s life and on her death. By contemporary standards, the real value of the paintings found within the tomb is that they are the best preserved and most detailed source of the ancient Egyptian’s journey towards the afterlife. Admission included.

Note: only 100 visitors are allowed per day.

  • Devon Vaughan — August 14, 2017 — Egypt & Middle East

This was such an amazing trip. We greatly appreciate how informative our host Mohamed and all of the guides we had were. Our host met with us every day except for when we were on the boat and gave us a rundown of what we were doing that day, etc. We never once waited on the guides or van drivers, everything in our tour went exceptionally smooth! We could not have asked for better tour guides. Hala, Mohamed Saad and Mohamed Mekkay are very knowledgeable guides, they offered so much information on everything that we saw and were able to answer all of our questions. We absolutely loved them. Thank you so much for such a great experience!

  • Josee Johnson — August 14, 2017 — Egypt & Middle East

  • Patricia Smart — May 23, 2017 — Egypt & Middle East

The guides were spectacular. They answered my questions, they took an interest as what to see & do into our most consideration. They were very helpful. They watched out for me & my safety at all times, took to me to places to buy things from the locals, like real alabaster, real oils, real food, real gold and silver jewelry. They gave me insight of the culture & the world the locals lived in. The drivers were awesome. They picked us up when we called, waited for us, and got us to where we were going. Gareth Smith, our travel consultant was phenomenal in getting me the right package deal on catering to my needs & what I wanted to see & do. All in all one, spectacular vacation from start to finish

Loved the whole tour, every day of it was fantastic! The Egyptologists and tour guides, Mohamed Gamal, Mohamed Saad, Wael Magdy Tito, are very knowledgeable and helpful. We felt very safe and protected. Our drivers, especially Yasser, were the best drivers. Cairo traffic is crazy but they managed every situation. We are experienced travelers but this trip was the one we will cherish the most. Let's not forget our security personnel as well. They were discreet and vigilant everywhere we went. Egypt is a beautiful country with beautiful people and wonderful food. History is amazing and Kensington Tours made a long time life dream come true for us! Thank you Roudayna for planning our trip!

This was our first experience using Kensington. Their online reviews were positive, the website was helpful listing numerous points of interests and options. Our itinerary was based on our list of things we wanted to see and do. All our interests were covered from being met upon arrival, helped through the visa/entry process to check-in for our departure. Our accommodations at Winter Palace, onboard Royal Lilly and the Fairmont Hotel were first rate. The guides exceeded our expectations, one was actually an Egyptologist, my wife loves history and was impress with the accuracy of these men.

This was an amazing trip! Our coordinator Mohammed and guides Sam and Tito were world-class guides. They were well educated on Egyptian history and balanced the trip so we saw the sites but didn't get overwhelmed. No detail was overlooked by Tito and Mohammed. They had wifi hotspots for us, SIM cards, greeted us with a platter of local desserts and went to any lengths to meet requests all while making it look effortless. I mentioned that I love sushi so they took us to a sushi place just for me! Tito surprised us with Turkish coffee and stuffed camels for my nieces without me even asking and he wouldn't accept payment. They were incredibly gracious and welcoming and felt like family members by the time we left. One last thing- regarding security. Most have questioned the safety while I was there but I never once felt unsafe. Having Tito as a guide taking us everywhere made us feel safe. Even as we toured two famous mosques, Tito timed it so that we were there between the calls to prayer to minimize our presence there. This was my first vacation tour and I will definitely consider Kensington again. It was so nice not to have to worry about coordinating all the minute details of a trip which enabled me to relax and just enjoy. Thank you! Mena Tours in Egypt represented Kensington very well.
