Pondering the past in England can make your head swim. The true tales from this great land’s storied history stretch back far beyond the days of Victoria, Shakespeare, and even King Arthur. London, the seat of a once-mighty empire, was founded not by a king but an emperor: Claudius of Rome. Traces of that heritage still linger two millennia distant, both here and in Bath, where ancient hot springs bathed the Romans. And yet even this isn’t the beginning; the 5,000-year-old riddle of Stonehenge continues to baffle expert and amateur alike. The echoes of the distant past whisper all across England. And if you listen carefully, you’ll be amazed by what you hear.

This trip begins, naturally, in cosmopolitan London with a comprehensive private walking tour of the kingdom’s capital, alighting at the Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London, the London Eye, and other world-famous landmarks. Later, peruse the British Museum’s 8 million treasures – including the wonders of its extensive Egyptian and Athenian galleries – on a privately guided tour. Next, head west to Bath, beloved for its Georgian architecture and the plethora of ancient Roman sites scattered among its rolling hills. First, get to know this strollable city on a private walking tour and wander the magnificent Royal Crescent, then travel back in time, first with a small group at the 5,000-year-old monoliths of Stonehenge, then to the fascinating 2,000-year-old Roman Baths complex, whose hot springs once soothed the soles of weary centurions. The past is always close at hand in England, and you don’t even need a time machine to visit it. ... Show More »

One of the world's great cities, London manages to shine in the grayest weather, and its diversity defies a simple definition. Depending on the location of your hotel, and your particular interests, your guide will happily tailor the tour so you can get the most out of your day. Wander the cobblestone streets, gardens and markets, and be a Londoner for a day. Walk through renowned Trafalgar Square, explore Soho, and check out some stalls at historic Covent Garden Market. See the Queen’s residence, Buckingham Palace, take some photos of iconic clock tower Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, see Hyde Park’s lively Speakers’ Corner. Using the Oyster card provided in your London Welcome Package, perhaps even take the Tube to cover more ground, allowing you to view the UNESCO-listed Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, and more.

Skip the largest part of the queue today at The London Eye with your exclusive Fast Track admission, and take to the skies for a unique perspective over the city of London below. At a height of 443 feet, The London Eye is the largest cantilevered observation wheel in Europe, and receives over three million visitors each year. Meet your private guide at the British Museum for a three hour tour through one of the world's oldest museums. In over 250 years since its inception, the British Museum has become host to one of the largest and most extensive collections in the world, featuring more than 8 million pieces in its permanent collection. In order to make the most efficient use of your time in the museum, you can have your guide take you to see the museum's highlight pieces, or you can choose to focus your tour on particular areas of interest to you. Some exhibits of note include the incredible Egyptian Galleries, offering a glimpse into the art, culture and sophistication of ancient Egypt, as well as the portrait on Athenian culture, visiting the 1,500 year-old Parthenon Sculptures of Athens’ Acropolis.

Note: General admission to the museum is free of charge however entrances to special exhibitions, if desired, are payable on the spot.

There is nothing quite like gliding along the River Thames, passing beneath the various lit-up bridges as the city's famous landmarks unfold around you at night. Many of the historic and modern buildings along the banks of the river are illuminated by floodlights in the evening, making for beautiful views of the city as you cruise by. Enjoy a window seat, and a set menu five-course dinner with wine pairing (4 glasses) and a choice of aperitif, as you cruise this evening, accompanied by elegant background music performed live on board (ambient music Monday-Friday, big band on Saturdays). Coffee and tea are provided after dessert, and a half bottle of mineral water will accompany the wine during your meal.

  • John C — April 20, 2019 — Europe

Jiri, our driver/guide in Slovenia, really made our trip. He is knowledgeable, flexible, and responsive. Even has a university degree in art history! He connected many of the dots between Slovenia and what has been going on in the rest of Europe over the past centuries!

  • Diana S — May 25, 2019 — Europe

The itinerary was perfect, considering we only had 5 days to fit in this extension of our 22 day Transatlantic Cruise. Hope did a great job in coordinating for us the highlights of Sicily. All the guides and drivers are always helpful and knowledgeable from Kensington. In Agrigento, our guide was an archaeologist who teaches at universities. He had notebooks with diagrams and maps to show us exactly what we were looking at. He answered questions so thoroughly, we felt that we had a tour and a history lesson. It was amazing and the pace of all the tou

  • Kathleen K — May 15, 2019 — Europe

We enjoyed working with Jamie Boar. She was knowledgeable, communicated well, friendly, and professional. We got all we wanted from the personal tours planned and were impressed with the high quality of the guide. We will certainly use Kensington Tours again.

  • Cynthia D — April 20, 2019 — Europe

I found Kensington Tours on Google. At my first visit to the site, I was contacted immediately by Julie Couturier. She made my inquiry seem like we were having coffee, and she just happened to know everything I needed to make me choose her as my representative and travel expert. I was recommended to other tour companies, by friends, but it was Julie that made me realize Kensington was the best choice. We started our discovery in 2018 and because I was traveling with my grandchildren, I wanted to ensure the trip was perfect. We had to make changes as we went along, first because we were able to confirm a suite at the Marriott Grand Residence on Park St. with reward points. Julie was quick to make all the necessary changes in our tours. We felt privileged to have had the tour guides that Julie set for us, each one was so very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour which kept our 13 and 11 years old interested. Julie suggested a play and what child can say the saw “Matilda” in London. We certainly would not have enjoyed our trip as much if we had tried to do this on our own. Julie suggested a visit to Warner Bros Harry Potter and it was worth every moment. I would have never gone there, so congrats again to Julie. She was also able to advise us as to where to purchase groceries for our room, having lived in London previously. I have had many friends travel around the world and I don’t know of one that speaks as highly of their tour company or their travel expert the way my family has. Thank you Kensington Tours and especially Julie.

  • Rena K — April 06, 2019 — Europe

We were extremely impressed with every aspect of our trip. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. Chantal, our Destination Expert, worked with us to make sure that my physical limitations were not a problem. Each guide and driver took such good care of us. They were so knowledgeable and helpful. We plan on booking with Kensington again in the future. The service and amazing itinerary could not have been better. Thank you for memories that will last a lifetime!

  • Clark S. — November 10, 2018 — Europe

We booked a trip to Paris for our 20th Anniversary. The trip was wonderful! We were able to customize our trip with our tour expert, Julie, and our trip was great.

  • David W. — November 21, 2018 — Europe

I absolutely loved our two guides, Robert (Cardiff Walking Tour) and Noel Clawson, our guide throughout our trip. They are two very special people. The tour in Wales was perfect!

  • Wanda P. — October 13, 2018 — Europe

Our entire trip was very well designed to fit our schedule and preferences. The on-site guides and drivers were excellent. They were very professional and friendly. We asked for guides that were knowledgeable of Cambridge and Oxford Universities, and we were very satisfied with both guides. Thank you for making our trip one of the best we have experienced.

  • Patricia M. — October 17, 2018 — Europe

The hotels, guides, transportation, food and city tours of Barcelona, San Sebastián, Bilbao and Madrid were amazing! I would highly recommend the Kensington Culinary Trip to Spain to others.

  • Thomas R. — October 02, 2018 — Europe

We really enjoyed our tour guide in Rome that took us to Vatican City - very friendly and informative.
