Day 2: Marseille

Embark on an exciting private day trip encompassing two French Riviera favorites- vibrant Marseille and the ancient fishing port of Cassis. Meet your driver-guide at your hotel and travel south to the seaside town of Cassis. Drive along the scenic Corniche des Cretes road, stopping to admire sweeping, magnificent coastal views of the Gulf of Cassis from Cape Canaille. Head down to Cassis where you'll explore the charming fishing village, wandering along the gorgeous harbor, lined with colorful, pastel-painted houses. Enjoy some free time to browse the markets or perhaps scout out a seafront restaurant for a pause in your day. Later, rejoin your guide and hop aboard a shared cruise to discover the magnificent Calanques of Cassis, effectively the Riviera's version of scenic fjords. Be awed by the untamed nature as you glide past the jagged rock formations, soaring limestone cliffs, and tranquil inlets. Return to Marseille where your guide will take you on a relaxing sightseeing tour, and see historic highlights of France's second largest city, including the hilltop cathedral of Notre-Dame de la Garde, the 5th century Abbey of St Victor, the Old Port, and the stunning gardens and fountains of the Palais Longchamp.

Day 3: Marseille

Meet your private driver-guide at your hotel and drive towards Aix en Provence for a walking tour through the stunning city, including the Cours Mirabeau, located in the center of the city, and at the very heart of Aix. The Cours Mirabeau is a beautiful tree-lined avenue, with one side lined with wonderful terrace cafés and bookshops. The center of Aix en Provence is the old town, surrounded by a circular boulevard and squares. It is a small enough area to explore on foot. Medieval Aix was protected by a wall with 39 towers, but today only the 14th century "Tourreluquo" tower remains, at the northwest corner of the town. Be delighted by Aix’s bustling daily open-air market on the Place Richelme. The market offers Provencal products such as fruit, vegetables, olives and oysters. And not only food: wicker baskets, brightly patterned tablecloths made from Provencal cloth, olive wood bowls and platters and rolling pins. You may wish to visit the Pavillon Vendôme, a fine example of an elegant "bastide" built in the 17th century. Admire the mansions in the Mazarin district with the Hotel de Caumont, the 4 Dolphins Square with the graceful 4 Dolphins Fountain and the Saint Jean de Malta church, a fortified gothic church built at the end of the 12th century. Visit the old town with the Palais des Justice (Law Courts) built on the former site of the palace of the sovereign counts, the 17th-century Madeleine church, and St Sauveur Cathedral. Conclude with a transfer back to Marseille.

Fantastic tour that met all our special requests! Our anniversary celebration was perfect! Our grandchildren made so many memories from playing in the fields of the farm to sailing through the fjords and eating desserts at all the bakeries! A marvellous intergenerational experience!

  • Julie S — July 05, 2019 — Europe

Thank you to Daniel for making our family’s trip to Greece so enjoyable and memorable. We asked him for an “Instagram” worthy trip, and he delivered! The hotels on the islands were stunning, and our private tour guides at each stop easily accommodated our individual wishes. Our trip was the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration.

  • Elizabeth B — July 20, 2019 — Europe

I cannot tell you how impressed we were with your services. Everything from the drivers to the hotels to guides was five stars! We never had to wait in line and were treated like royalty. I highly recommend the private boat ride/tour to Capri. It was fabulous! We had never been to Italy and left feeling like we learned so much. We fell in love with the people and culture. We cannot wait to have Kensington book our next adventure.

  • Kimberly E — July 14, 2019 — Europe

It was the first time we have used a company of this nature to manage our bookings. Most often I book my rooms, and tours, but after this experience, I would definetely use Kensington again for a trip of this type. Our Destination truly supported us and allowed us to make changes until the plan was just perfect for us. This truly showed when we were in country and everthing went off perfectly. I was worried to have other book items on my families behalf seeing as we were traveling with kids (age 8 and 10), but I feel our destination Expert did take that into account and it was perfect.

There is so much to say about this amazing family trip to northern Spain we just came home from, but in short, the trip was even more than we could have hoped for - From the planning to the tour guides, drivers and accommodations our needs were met and in most cases surpassed. There is no way the trip could have been as successful without the help of Maryanne from Kensington Tours and her team.

  • Sara L — June 29, 2019 — Europe

Our Iceland trip was fantastic. From planning with Melissa (many times over until we had it right) to being greeted in Iceland and all of the wonderful tours we took, we had a fabulous time. Our guide, Sigga, was excellent. She guided us, told us tales of Iceland, was extremely accommodating with my elderly mom. We enjoyed being with her very much. Inke, our guide to the glacier, was also wonderful. We had a great time and felt Kensington did a fabulous job. Thanks!

  • Dawn K — July 18, 2019 — Europe

The trip overall was amazing and all the activities and travel plans went so very smoothly. Our whole familiy really enjoyed every day of the trip. Patrick McCallion, the expert from your agency who helped us, was awesome! He not only set up everything perfectly for us but helped us with reservations for dinners at fine dining places and answered many questions we had in advance. We did leave our glasses in the van at one point in Barcelona and had to contact the local agent who quickly retrieved the glasses for us without any problem. We highly recommend this agency given the quality of the experience, the smoothness of the itinerary, and the flexibility to tailored the experience to our needs. Thank

This was our 6th Kensington tour. We have gone as a couple on trips and taken our children sometimes to destinations all over the world. We have never been disappointed and have had the most personal and professional service. We would not even consider using anyone else. Thank you Alania for everything! Our most recent trip to Russia and Scandinavia was fabulous and perfectly planned!
