Kensington Tours and Phase One have teamed up with photographer Andrei Duman for a once-in-a-lifetime small-group photography expedition to one of the world’s most picturesque places: Iceland.

As a special bonus, travelers on this special departure will have the exclusive opportunity to shoot using Phase One’s XF Camera System throughout the tour. With full-frame medium-format images at an amazingly high resolution (up to 101 megapixels) and with under the guidance of Phase One photographer Andrei Duman, your personal guide and photography expert, you’ll capture incredible shots with equipment almost as amazing as Iceland itself.

It begins in Reykjavík, the quirky capital whose eccentric mix of traditional architecture and ultramodern design is worth photographing on its own. From there, you’ll head north to the green hills and rocky peaks of Snaefellsnes, land of Viking sagas and home to majestic Snæfellsjökull, a 700,000-year-old stratovolcano with a glacier at its peak. You’ll want to pack a wide-angle lens to capture the landscapes of Þingvellir National Park, a rift valley formed by eons of volcanic activity that features rolling pastures, dramatic waterfalls, and vast ice-blue lakes against a backdrop of distant mountains. Later near Höfn, witness the eye-popping splendor of icebergs drifting through glacial lagoons and stroll the black-sand beaches in search of man-sized “ice diamonds.” A rare sight awaits near Vik, where the skeleton of a crashed US Navy DC-3 awaits, adrift in a sea of black volcanic sand. Next, head into the highlands to Landmannalaugar, a Middle Earth-esque landscape of lava fields, volcanic deserts, and burbling hot springs. Finally, return to Reykjavík and restore yourself in the refreshing (not to mention picturesque) hot springs of the famous Blue Lagoon before a hearty seafood dinner at Fiskmarkaðurinn. ... Day 1: Reykjavik

Relax on your airport transfer in Reykjavik with a private vehicle and driver. There will be three transfer times provided: 7am, 9am and 1pm.

A welcome package with a city map, and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

Take time to explore Reykjavik at leisure. Surrounded by sea, its waterfront paths are perfect for a leisurely stroll, some jogging, cycling or rollerblading. The city's northern waterfront is a popular area, with a beautiful view of Reykjavik's landmark mountain, Mt. Esja.  The city is an intimate size with a big personality and some striking landmarks, including mountains, beautiful buildings both old and modern, a lake and intriguing sculptures. City Hall is an impressive building on the northern shore of Lake Tjornin; stark and modern, it is the neural centre of Reykjavik, connecting nature, water and bird life to the centre of town. Hallgrimskirkja church, the largest church in Iceland, is Reykjavik's main landmark and its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city.  Hofdi House, built in 1909, might be one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Reykjavik. It is best known as the location for the 1986 summit meeting of presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbatsjov, a historical event that effectively marked the end of the Cold War. Videy Island is a unique site that combines history, culture and nature, and is only a few minutes away from the city by boat. Archaeological excavations have disclosed the fact that the island was inhabited already in the 10th century. In more modern times, the Imagine Peace Tower was inaugurated on the island and is dedicated to the memory of John Lennon on what would have been his 67th birthday.

This evening meet your tour guides and fellow travellers for an included 3-course dinner at Sjávargrillið Restaurant.

  • Durriya E — March 29, 2017 — Europe

This trip was the perfect balance of guidance and independence. Each local guide brought a very personal touch to the tour and were both engaging and informative. Luiz was a pleasure to work with and provided the guidance we needed to create an itinerary that suited our interest and the pace we wanted.

  • Gary J — March 29, 2017 — Europe

We wanted a quality trip for our anniversary; and got more than what we expected. Well planned, well thought organized and well executed. We will definitely use Kensington tours for any trips in the future

  • Pamela P. — March 24, 2017 — Europe

I had never had the desire to visit London. After going, I am so glad I did. Kensington Tours made this once in a lifetime trip one I rate as the best. I have done some extensive traveling and this company made sure every detail was in place.

  • Maria L — February 07, 2017 — Europe

This Trip was amazing! We enjoyed every minute and second of it... Thank you.

  • Joy L. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Private tours were the best. Enjoyed being able to stop and see sights big groups wouldn't be able to do.

  • Tilda B. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Our agent Enrique was phenomenal. He booked every aspect of our trip, from transportation, tour and hotel. All we had to do was show up. Best vacation!!

  • Gary C. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

My excellent experience with Kensington Tours started with Michelle Callaghan, a consultant for Ireland and UK, followed by a very friendly and knowledgeable person in KT Air, ending with our guide Paul Wilson who my whole family loved. I am lucky enough to have traveled internationally for both business and pleasure for decades, therefore I have to compare. The entire experience with Kensington, from start to finish, was a 10.

  • Elizabeth M. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

I love being able to call Kensington and tell their agents where I want to go and what I'd like to see when at my destination. All I do is pack my suitcase and from the moment my plane lands, I am taken care of and looked after. It turns a "trip" into a "vacation" as well. It's hassle free, first rate.

  • Margarette H. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

We enjoyed the trip immensely! All our tour guides did a good job. I'd like to especially call out Alexandra from Lisbon and Javier from Toledo as outstanding. Our primary drivers Jose in Lisbon and Muhammad in Morocco were also outstanding! Special appreciation for our Riad accommodations in Marrakech which was magical!

  • Noor K. — August 10, 2016 — Europe
