Day 1: Dublin

For your added comfort, a private assistant will be waiting for outside of airport customs, holding a sign with your name on it. They will direct you to your awaiting private transfer, and accompany you to your hotel for check-in.

A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful, will be provided to you on your first day in destination.

Discover Ireland with a private driver-guide, featuring experienced driving skills and expert local knowledge and insight into the best towns, monuments and historic sites of the Emerald Isle. In addition to your pre-booked customized touring, get recommendations on where to shop, have a drink, grab a bite, and even lesser-known sites typically ignored by visitors, all of which you can stop to visit on a whim (payable on the spot), because your days have built-in flexibility. Enjoy an introduction to Ireland with such depth and quality that's only possible with a local expert. Simply the best and most enjoyable way of seeing the Emerald Isle, in style!

Meet your private driver-guide at your hotel and set out by private vehicle on a half-day tour of Dublin, exploring the highlights of the lively Irish capital. Pass through the landscaped grounds of St Stephen’s Green, a public park dating back to 1664, followed by a walk through Merrion Square, with its impressive red brick Georgian townhouses. Make your way past the historic Dublin Castle, former seat of the English, along with the Lords and Kings of Ireland, now used for all State ceremonial events. Pass by Christchurch, built by the Anglo-Norman’s in 1172 to replace an earlier Church built by the Vikings in 1038. No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral, a highlight of your tour. Built in 1192, it is one of Ireland’s largest cathedrals, made famous by its former dean Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels. Check out the old cobbled lanes and hip establishments of Temple Bar, Dublin’s cultural quarter, and visit Trinity College where you’ll be able to see the 8th century Book of Kells, perhaps the world’s most beautifully illustrated book, and gaze upon the 200,000 books of the long room. Your tour ends with a return transfer to your hotel, or, if you’d prefer, you can be dropped off at one of Dublin’s impressive attractions such as the Guinness Storehouse or Old Jameson Distillery. Please let your destination expert know if you would like to add on tickets for one of these optional post-tour attractions.

Day 2: Dublin

The coastline of Dublin City from north to south is as fascinating as the city center itself. Spend the day exploring with your private driver-guide, heading out across the northern part of the city, passing the famous Abbey Theater en route to the renowned Malahide Castle, one of the oldest castles in Ireland. Famously the home of the powerful Talbot family for nearly 800 years, make a visit and tour the impressive estate, soaking up history dating back as far as 1175. The Castle, which is set in magnificent gardens, has some of the finest Irish period furniture, and contains famous portraits from the National Art Gallery. Continue on to the seaside village of Malahide, prideful in its reputation as the gourmet capital of the East Coast, then trace the coastline to the fishing village of Howth on the peninsula of the same name, offering magnificent views of Dublin Bay from Howth Head perched at the end of the peninsula. On the south side of the city the scenery takes on a more Mediterranean feel with James Joyce's Tower in Sandymount. The two villages of Dalkey and Killiney nestled overlooking the sea are Ireland most opulent and the homes of the stars. The view across Killiney Bay to the Wicklow Mountains is among the most beautiful in Ireland, surely worth a stop before concluding your day back in Dublin.

  • Mary W — May 05, 2019 — Europe

My Kensington Tours Destination Expert, Jessica Clements, was so helpful and patient as we planned our trip. She was so helpful in recommending things based on her experience and so patient as our dates changed, and we had more ideas about what we wanted to see. Once we got to Greece, our pickups and transfers were seamless. Our tour guides, drivers and destination greeters were all so warm and welcoming. The hotels were fantastic in terms of service and location. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I have already recommended Kensington to several friends.

  • Rita B — April 24, 2019 — Europe

Our entire visit to Poland was outstanding, first-class. Booking the tour with Karolina Stringer made it so easy. All I did was tell her the places we needed to visit and what was the feel we wanted for the visit. Not only did we want to see the landmarks of Poland, but we also wanted time to walk the squares, sit in the cafes, take public transportation. Everyone we encountered in Poland was top-notch. Our guide for Gdansk was Ewelina Danecka. This amazing woman enchanted us with her knowledge and her joy in sharing her country with us. On our first day, I requested we reverse the first two days of our plan and she was totally flexible. I gave her the name of a very obscure town and she and the driver found it! Ewelina acted as my interpreter with the parish priests of the two towns we specifically needed to visit for our family research. She and our driver stayed with us an extra two hours after they were scheduled to be done for the evening and because of their generosity we saw Wawel Castle, which wasn't on our schedule, we loved it! Our three days with Ewelina were so intense and emotional that we felt we were leaving family when we said goodbye to her. The Hanza Hotel was wonderful, overlooking the riverfront. Warsaw was waiting for us and so was Agnieszka Tomazuk. Agnieszka was wonderful. We were specifically interested to visit the Warsaw ghetto and the war monuments commemorating the valor of the Poles during the WW2. And we were very interested to know about the Polish life under communism. I specifically requested a "good" Chopin concert. We didn't get good, we got a brilliant concert given by Agnieszka Przemyk-Bryla, in the Szuster Palace, not some impersonal concert hall. Her passion for the music combined with her technical ability made that evening unforgettable. The Polonia Palace Hotel was very nice, though not quite within walking distance to the Warsaw town square. On the way to Krakow we stopped at Jasna Gora to see the Madonna. We were guided and educated by one of the nuns of the Monastery. Totally awesome. We could not have done Krakow without our guide, Marta Bochenek. She made sure we knew not just what we were getting into when we went into the Wieliczka Salt Mine, but how to get out and meet up with her, since there were not one, but two exits from the mine. And when we went to Auschwitz, Marta very wisely said that she would be waiting if we decided not to go to the Birkenau portion of the concentration camp visit. Respectfully and reverently done as it was, Auschwitz was so powerful, we decided not to go on to Birkenau. I'm so glad we did go to Auschwitz. The Sheraton Krakow was very fine. Our first cup of "real" coffee in Poland. Most of the hotels' coffee is made from Nescafe or some instant coffee. The coffee at the Sheraton Krakow was really whole roasted coffee. Kensington Tours is contracting with the first class tour agency in Poland. We could not be more satisfied with our entire experience. The mood of our tour exactly matched the attitude I relayed to Karolina at the very beginning of our planning. This trip felt like it was planned just for us. This is our second time using Kensington Tours. Like the first trip, this was OUR tour.

  • Marilyn R — April 22, 2019 — Europe

The absolute best trip to Europe we have ever taken. The entire process was flawless: best hotels, best guides, etc. This experience was new to us, but now it’s the only when I will travel! Kensington tours was the best. A truly 5-star experience from beginning to the end!

  • Sharayu T — May 13, 2019 — Europe

The Eastern Europe trip was fabulous. Everything went smoothly. The guides and drivers were excellent. We enjoyed the trip immensely. To begin with, our arrival at Budapest train station and meeting up with Mr. Sandor went flawlessly. We were a little anxious as the main train station was closed, but when we got down at Budapest Kelenfold, it was such a relief to see Mr. Sandor waiting for us. All our guides, Sandor, Bozena, Agnieszka, and Sandra were very knowledgeable, friendly, and adaptable. They intermixed personal stories and anecdotes that made understanding the history and culture at each place very gratifying. The accommodations were comfortable, and the locations were perfect. Eastern Europe with its old traditions and architecture, and the suppressed existence during Nazi and Russian occupations offers a very different and distinctive experience. Thanks to Jessica Clements for facilitating a unique travel itinerary.

  • Mary Ann C — April 09, 2019 — Europe

Courtney was wonderful. She worked through all of my concerns and was very flexible when Delta caused a plan change. Her responses to my requests were promptly answered and her communication with me was excellent. Petur, our guide, was a delight. We enjoyed Iceland and his thorough knowledge helped us to experience all the country had to offer.

  • John C — April 20, 2019 — Europe

Jiri, our driver/guide in Slovenia, really made our trip. He is knowledgeable, flexible, and responsive. Even has a university degree in art history! He connected many of the dots between Slovenia and what has been going on in the rest of Europe over the past centuries!

  • Diana S — May 25, 2019 — Europe

The itinerary was perfect, considering we only had 5 days to fit in this extension of our 22 day Transatlantic Cruise. Hope did a great job in coordinating for us the highlights of Sicily. All the guides and drivers are always helpful and knowledgeable from Kensington. In Agrigento, our guide was an archaeologist who teaches at universities. He had notebooks with diagrams and maps to show us exactly what we were looking at. He answered questions so thoroughly, we felt that we had a tour and a history lesson. It was amazing and the pace of all the tou

We enjoyed working with Jamie Boar. She was knowledgeable, communicated well, friendly, and professional. We got all we wanted from the personal tours planned and were impressed with the high quality of the guide. We will certainly use Kensington Tours again.

  • Cynthia D — April 20, 2019 — Europe

I found Kensington Tours on Google. At my first visit to the site, I was contacted immediately by Julie Couturier. She made my inquiry seem like we were having coffee, and she just happened to know everything I needed to make me choose her as my representative and travel expert. I was recommended to other tour companies, by friends, but it was Julie that made me realize Kensington was the best choice. We started our discovery in 2018 and because I was traveling with my grandchildren, I wanted to ensure the trip was perfect. We had to make changes as we went along, first because we were able to confirm a suite at the Marriott Grand Residence on Park St. with reward points. Julie was quick to make all the necessary changes in our tours. We felt privileged to have had the tour guides that Julie set for us, each one was so very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour which kept our 13 and 11 years old interested. Julie suggested a play and what child can say the saw “Matilda” in London. We certainly would not have enjoyed our trip as much if we had tried to do this on our own. Julie suggested a visit to Warner Bros Harry Potter and it was worth every moment. I would have never gone there, so congrats again to Julie. She was also able to advise us as to where to purchase groceries for our room, having lived in London previously. I have had many friends travel around the world and I don’t know of one that speaks as highly of their tour company or their travel expert the way my family has. Thank you Kensington Tours and especially Julie.

We were extremely impressed with every aspect of our trip. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. Chantal, our Destination Expert, worked with us to make sure that my physical limitations were not a problem. Each guide and driver took such good care of us. They were so knowledgeable and helpful. We plan on booking with Kensington again in the future. The service and amazing itinerary could not have been better. Thank you for memories that will last a lifetime!
