Day 2: Edinburgh

Meet your private guide at your hotel and depart on foot for a half-day walking tour through Scotland’s hilly capital, Edinburgh, founded over 1,200 years ago. The New Town, co-listed with the Old Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features the famous Princes Street with its ornate 200-foot-high Scott Monument, along with historic Georgian and neo-classical architecture. With a structure-free south side of the street, Princes offers panoramic views back across the scenic Old Town, considered one of the most beautiful skylines in Europe. Stroll the renowned Royal Mile in the UNESCO-listed Old Town, bookended by the 12th century Edinburgh Castle at one end, and the 16th century Holyrood Palace at the other, residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Spot the prominent St Giles’ Cathedral, a religious focal point for nearly 900 years. Pass the National Museum of Scotland, and learn of the city’s hidden subterranean passages running below street level. Visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched on Castle Rock with an imposing stance upon the historic old town below. Stroll the courtyard and learn about the historic royal residence from the outside before leaving your guide while you visit the inside of the castle, where you can see the lavish interiors, and even the Crown Jewels.

Day 4: Inverness

As a small group of no more than 16 participants, head out on a full day adventure thorough some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery. Driving along the shores of Loch Ness, you'll stop at the village of Invermoriston, where you can take in the serene views, see a delightful ruined bridge, and keep an eye out for 'Nessie', legendary creature said to take refuge in the depths of the loch below. Your journey then winds past the Five Sisters, a stunning range of mountains that dominates the surrounding landscape. You’ll then arrive to the Isle of Skye, making a stop so to admire the picturesque beauty of the 13th century ruins of Eilean Donan Castle - easily recognized as one of the most iconic sights in the country. There will be time for an optional visit of the castle on its separate tidal island, though admission (if desired) is payable on the spot. Your experience on the Isle of Skye will have you brought along the stunningly beautiful road through Glen Suardal, see the iconic Red Cuillin Hills, and enjoy views of Bla Bhein - often considered Scotland’s prettiest mountain. The road then drops to hug the banks of Loch Slappin where you’ll be able to stop and enjoy some beach combing, before your journey takes a steep climb over Strathaird to reach the little community of Elgol, offering superb views of the Black Cuillin Hills and the stunning seascapes towards Rum and other small isles. Return to Inverness via the scenic Black Isle, with views over the Moray Firth.

Day 5: Inverness - Fort William

Meet your private driver and vehicle for a transfer to Fort William. Approximate travel time is 1.5 hours.

Transfer by local taxi. Please note that this service is not included, and is payable locally.

This afternoon, travel back in time on a legendary Jacobite Steam Train as it takes you on a scenic journey to the west coast. The 84-mile round-trip journey features old-fashioned carriages and compartments, a pure nostalgia of traveling under the power of steam, as the locomotive winds through Highlands valleys and beside lochs and glens. Starting in Fort William, travel along the shores of Loch Eil, stopping for half an hour at Glenfinnan. One of the main highlights of the journey is crossing the 21 arches of the Glenfinnan viaduct, memorably captured in the Harry Potter films and overlooking Loch Shiel. After, the train passes through the villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, and Morar before reaching the end of the line in Mallaig, the ferry port for the Isle of Skye. Views from Mallaig stretch across the water to the islands, and the little harbor town is small enough to explore on foot after the train ride. You will have about an hour and a half to explore Mallaig before the return journey to Fort William commences, arriving back at approximately 8:30pm.

Transfer by local taxi. Please note that this service is not included, and is payable locally.

Day 7: Dublin

Meet your private guide at your hotel and set out on foot for a half-day walking tour of Dublin, exploring the highlights of the lively Irish capital. Stroll through the landscaped grounds of St Stephen’s Green, a public park dating back to 1664, followed by a walk through Merrion Square, with its impressive red brick Georgian townhouses. Stroll past the historic Dublin Castle, former seat of the English, along with the Lords and Kings of Ireland, now used for all State ceremonial events. Pass by Christchurch, built by the Anglo-Norman’s in 1172 to replace an earlier Church built by the Vikings in 1038. No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral, a highlight of your tour. Built in 1192, it is one of Ireland’s largest cathedrals, made famous by its former dean Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels. Check out the old cobbled lanes and hip establishments of Temple Bar, Dublin’s cultural quarter, and visit Trinity College where you’ll be able to see the 8th century Book of Kells, perhaps the world’s most beautifully illustrated book and gaze upon the 200,000 books of the long room. Conclude your tour back at your hotel.

Enjoy admission to the Guinness Storehouse, granting you access for a self-guided tour exploring Ireland's number one visitor attraction, providing an unforgettable welcome and a magical journey deep into the heart of the world famous Guinness brand and beer company. This historical building is central to the heritage of both Dublin and Ireland, and has been continually updated to create a blend of fascinating industrial tradition with a contemporary edge. The seven floors of the Storehouse bring to life the rich heritage of Guinness, telling the story from its origins at St James's Gate in Dublin to its growth as a global brand, known all around the world. You’ll travel through Molls Gap, a scenic mountain pass through the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, and Ladies View, offering a majestic viewpoint across Killarney National Park, then continue along the broad, dramatic coastline of the Iveragh Peninsula and through the charming villages and towns of Killorglin, Cahirsiveen, Waterville and Sneem, where your guide can point out a resort frequented by the famous and regal for its renowned Afternoon Tea. This area is ranked at the top of Ireland's most rugged and dramatic landscapes, with shifting and sculpted stone creating unforgettable scenery you won't want to miss. Discover the quaint and picturesque seaport villages of Kinvarra and Ballyvaughan, the former of which will allow you to catch views of the 16th century Dunguaire Castle, one of the most photographed castles in all of Ireland. In Polnabrone, head out across a rocky, glacio-karst field worn away by ancient glaciers to view an impressive neolithic portal tomb, called the Poulnabrone Dolmen, a stone burial monument erected by some of the very first settlers to this remote, pitted landscape over 5,200 years ago. On arrival to visit the Cliffs of Moher, you'll head out along the pathways, walking to various viewing platforms for different lookout points out across what is easily one of Ireland's most iconic views - offering moments of contemplation and awe, as you gaze out across sheer, eroded cliffsides which drop dramatically down 700 feet to the North Atlantic below. • Susan C. — October 11, 2018 — Europe

Working with Danny S. was a real pleasure. He was lovely, very professional and knowledgeable. Our trip was so enjoyable and stress free. Hotels were perfect, restaurants booked by Kensington were authentic and the food was excellent. The flamenco show was so much fun and the venue was relaxing and intimate. Our guides were prompt, smart and passionate about their country. A really wonderful group of individuals. It was very reassuring to know we always had a person on the ground to call if necessary. This was an A+ trip and we will always have wonderful memories of a beautiful country and it’s warm and welcoming citizens. My heartfelt thanks to Danny and all others who planned a perfect trip on our behalf. We look forward to another trip in 2019!

  • Marilyn K. — September 20, 2018 — Europe

Our guides were knowledgeable and kind beyond expectation, and were extremely amenable to our requests. The tour expert was very patient and knowledgeable as well, and truly had our travel wishes in mind when creating our trip to Poland. It was a wonderful and amazing life changing experience!

  • Irene Y. — September 13, 2018 — Europe

This trip was just what we were looking for, a private tour of England, Scotland and Dublin. Julie C. was awesome! She and I worked together to figure out what my family and I wanted to do. I could have never done it without her! The cars/guides were waiting at the airport for us. Everyone associated with Kensington Tours was so helpful and kind. The location of the 3 hotels, we stayed in, were amazing!! We walked everywhere! Each tour, we were scheduled for, went smoothly, and on time. The tour guides were so smart and informative about the places we went. I didn't stand in one hotel concierge line. My tickets and vouchers were printed out and in hand ahead of time. Julie even researched and scheduled horseback riding in the Dublin Mountains, which they hadn't handled before. What a highlight that was!! This trip was everything I asked for. I will be using Kensington Tours and Julie again!!

  • Lesley M. — September 04, 2018 — Europe

We thoroughly enjoyed our entire trip to Greece. Everything went as planned, our hotels met and exceeded our expectations. The tour guides were all marvelous - knowledgeable, personal, patient, organized and pleasant to be with. And our sunset cruise in Santorini was superb - first class catamaran, crew and their other passengers were great to be with. We met a couple who also were frequent Kensington Tours clients and we all agreed you are our top choice when it comes to travel tours. Thank you for another unforgettable trip!

  • Ronnie B. — May 29, 2018 — Europe

The entire tour was well planed. Jason and our European guides and drivers were wonderful and often went above and beyond what was expected. Everything was flawlessly executed and we would not hesitate to use Kensington again.

  • Priya K. — June 11, 2018 — Europe

Everything went smoothly! From the pickups and drop offs from the airport and the tour guides being prompt. Will definitely be using Kensington for our next Trip!

  • Brooke R — May 14, 2018 — Europe

Kensington did a phenomenal job planning our vacation. The logistics of getting from place to place was incredibly well planned. The tour guides were knowledgeable, fun and tailored our experience based on our interests. Hotel accommodations were incredible and Patrick answering our questions, provided information on several occasions and ensured our that all our requests were met.
