Meet your private driver & guide at the hotel to drive towards Ostia Antica, an approximate 1 hour drive to start your walking guided tour through this beautiful Archaeological site, once the ancient Roman port. Built in 633 BC, it has always been very important for the Roman Empire as all the goods taken in the various territories conquered by the Romans were arriving there. You will enjoy walking through the fascinating ancient city of Rome visiting Piazza Navona, originally built as a stadium in the first century for athletic contests and chariot races. It is lined with luxurious cafes and Baroque palaces and is the home to three lavish fountains. It was laid out in the 15th century on the ruins of the stadium. From 1650 to the late 19th century, the square was sometimes flooded in summer and used for aquatic games and staged naval battles. The square still retains its oval shape. An obelisk can also be seen which came from Egypt and was originally in the Circus of Maxentius, but later moved to Piazza Navona. The modern piazza is a lively place, a place where both locals and tourists like to hang out. Artists gather in the square to paint and there are many entertainers and vendors selling souvenirs. You will also visit Rome's Pantheon, the temple of all the gods, which was built between AD 118‐125 by Emperor Hadrian. In the 7th century, it was made into a church by early Christians and now is lined with tombs. The dome is just spectacular inside with its partially open top. The Pantheon is the best preserved building of ancient Rome and today is surrounded by a pleasant and lively piazza. A return transfer to your hotel is provided.

This trip was the perfect balance of guidance and independence. Each local guide brought a very personal touch to the tour and were both engaging and informative. Luiz was a pleasure to work with and provided the guidance we needed to create an itinerary that suited our interest and the pace we wanted.

  • Gary J — March 29, 2017 — Europe

  • Joy L. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Private tours were the best. Enjoyed being able to stop and see sights big groups wouldn't be able to do.

  • Tilda B. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Our agent Enrique was phenomenal. He booked every aspect of our trip, from transportation, tour and hotel. All we had to do was show up. Best vacation!!

  • Gary C. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

My excellent experience with Kensington Tours started with Michelle Callaghan, a consultant for Ireland and UK, followed by a very friendly and knowledgeable person in KT Air, ending with our guide Paul Wilson who my whole family loved. I am lucky enough to have traveled internationally for both business and pleasure for decades, therefore I have to compare. The entire experience with Kensington, from start to finish, was a 10.

  • Elizabeth M. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

I love being able to call Kensington and tell their agents where I want to go and what I'd like to see when at my destination. All I do is pack my suitcase and from the moment my plane lands, I am taken care of and looked after. It turns a "trip" into a "vacation" as well. It's hassle free, first rate.

  • Margarette H. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

We enjoyed the trip immensely! All our tour guides did a good job. I'd like to especially call out Alexandra from Lisbon and Javier from Toledo as outstanding. Our primary drivers Jose in Lisbon and Muhammad in Morocco were also outstanding! Special appreciation for our Riad accommodations in Marrakech which was magical!

  • Noor K. — August 10, 2016 — Europe

Very well organized tour . I will recommend it to every one who wants to travel. Excellent tour.
