Day 2: Tallinn

Starting your private city tour at St. Charles Cathedral, you will explore Tallinn’s highlights, while your private guide provides you with exclusive inside information of the town’s history. The visit to the National Library is followed by the Pirita River where the Olympic Yachting Regatta was hosted in 1980. Take a few minutes to admire the Olympic Center on the opposite side of the river before your guide takes you to the ruins of St. Bridget’s Convent. On the way back to the city, pass the Song Festival Grounds where every 5 years a 120-year-old Estonian song festival takes place. The tour continues with the Parliament building and the 100 year old Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, famous for its onion domes. With its interesting collection of coat-of-arms and tombstones, the Dome Cathedral, built in the 13th-14th centuries is well worth a visit. Two viewing platforms provide you with breathtaking panoramic views of this charming town and are followed by a visit to the Long Leg and Short Leg Streets. Day 3: Tallinn - Riga

Settle in for a private transfer from Tallinn to Riga, via Parnu and Sigulda. On your way visit Sigulda with Gauja National Park. The park, located about 50 km from Riga in the Gauja River valley, is known as the most popular tourist and leisure destination. This tour enables one to experience a genuine whiff of the Middle Ages, a time of romantic legends, castles, and heroic figures by visiting the ruins of the 13th century Turaida Castle, and a local History Museum. During the tour you will have a private vehicle with an English speaking driver and an English speaking guide at Turaida Castle. Entrance fees are included.

Sample modern Latvian cuisine combined with a glass of delectable wine on the rooftop of Hotel Gutenbergs. Day 4: Riga

During this panoramic city tour, admire the most famous sights of Riga. Drive along the embankment of the River Daugava, providing wonderful panoramic views of the city. It follows through the centre of town to Jugendstil district, Alberta Street - the real open-air architectural museum, where the most explicit collection of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe is located. The city tour then goes through the modern part of the city where you'll observe the University building, National Opera, Academy of Arts, and the central train station. The tour concludes in the Old Town. Entrance fees to Art Nouveau Museum and Dom Church are included.

Leave the city limits behind and head northwest from Riga to Jurmala, a world-famous seaside resort area, situated just 15 miles from Latvia’s capital. The natural curative features of this place had already been well known more than a century ago and it is a favorite vacation spot for many locals. Nowadays the boundless golden beaches, deep blues of the sea, salubrious air and the unique beauty of pine forests attract tourists from all over the world. The town of Jurmala is a nice and cozy European settlement of houses plunged into the parks and forests. Here you may come across wooden country houses built at the beginning of the 20th century as well as modern cottages. Explore this coastal town with your private guide and expose your senses to the eerie beauty of the Baltic Sea. Stroll down the sandy beach, breathe in the fresh sea breeze and keep your eyes out for amber. Upon the conclusion of your tour you will be privately transferred back to your accommodation in Riga.

As one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Latvia, it was built in 1736-1740 as a summer residence for the Duke of Courland, Ernst Johann Biron. The palace was designed by an outstanding Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the creator of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. The Rundale Palace is one of the few remaining places where the very essence of the 18th century may still be experienced. Continue your tour with the Hill of Crosses. During this tour you will have a museum guide at your disposal. Entrance fees to Rundale Palace and French formal garden are included.

Start the tour through the modern part of the city where your private guide will take you to the University building, National Opera, Academy of Arts, and the central train station. After discovering the major points of interest in Vilnus, you will visit the picturesque town of Trakai, the ancient capital of Lithuania situated 30 km from Vilnius. There are old legends explaining the exceptional lucidity of the lakes. The "town on the water", as Trakai is usually called, is particularly rich in architectural and cultural monuments. The main landmark of the town is the famous insular Trakai Castle - the only insular castle in Eastern Europe - situated on the island in the Galve Lake. These days the castle houses the ethnographic museum, which displays authentic furniture, porcelain, crockery, articles made of glass and bone, seals, hunting trophies, and archaeological findings discovered in the Trakai Castle. Fantastic tour that met all our special requests! Our anniversary celebration was perfect! Our grandchildren made so many memories from playing in the fields of the farm to sailing through the fjords and eating desserts at all the bakeries! A marvellous intergenerational experience!

  • Julie S — July 05, 2019 — Europe

Thank you to Daniel for making our family’s trip to Greece so enjoyable and memorable. We asked him for an “Instagram” worthy trip, and he delivered! The hotels on the islands were stunning, and our private tour guides at each stop easily accommodated our individual wishes. Our trip was the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration.

  • Elizabeth B — July 20, 2019 — Europe

I cannot tell you how impressed we were with your services. Everything from the drivers to the hotels to guides was five stars! We never had to wait in line and were treated like royalty. I highly recommend the private boat ride/tour to Capri. It was fabulous! We had never been to Italy and left feeling like we learned so much. We fell in love with the people and culture. We cannot wait to have Kensington book our next adventure.

  • Kimberly E — July 14, 2019 — Europe

It was the first time we have used a company of this nature to manage our bookings. Most often I book my rooms, and tours, but after this experience, I would definetely use Kensington again for a trip of this type. Our Destination truly supported us and allowed us to make changes until the plan was just perfect for us. This truly showed when we were in country and everthing went off perfectly. I was worried to have other book items on my families behalf seeing as we were traveling with kids (age 8 and 10), but I feel our destination Expert did take that into account and it was perfect.

There is so much to say about this amazing family trip to northern Spain we just came home from, but in short, the trip was even more than we could have hoped for - From the planning to the tour guides, drivers and accommodations our needs were met and in most cases surpassed. There is no way the trip could have been as successful without the help of Maryanne from Kensington Tours and her team.

  • Sara L — June 29, 2019 — Europe

Our Iceland trip was fantastic. From planning with Melissa (many times over until we had it right) to being greeted in Iceland and all of the wonderful tours we took, we had a fabulous time. Our guide, Sigga, was excellent. She guided us, told us tales of Iceland, was extremely accommodating with my elderly mom. We enjoyed being with her very much. Inke, our guide to the glacier, was also wonderful. We had a great time and felt Kensington did a fabulous job. Thanks!

  • Dawn K — July 18, 2019 — Europe

The trip overall was amazing and all the activities and travel plans went so very smoothly. Our whole familiy really enjoyed every day of the trip. Patrick McCallion, the expert from your agency who helped us, was awesome! He not only set up everything perfectly for us but helped us with reservations for dinners at fine dining places and answered many questions we had in advance. We did leave our glasses in the van at one point in Barcelona and had to contact the local agent who quickly retrieved the glasses for us without any problem. We highly recommend this agency given the quality of the experience, the smoothness of the itinerary, and the flexibility to tailored the experience to our needs. Thank

This was our 6th Kensington tour. We have gone as a couple on trips and taken our children sometimes to destinations all over the world. We have never been disappointed and have had the most personal and professional service. We would not even consider using anyone else. Thank you Alania for everything! Our most recent trip to Russia and Scandinavia was fabulous and perfectly planned!
