Day 1: St. Petersburg

After securing your trip with Kensington Tours, you'll be provided with a Letter of Invitation for your Russian entry visa, along with additional important travel documents.

Meet your private driver and vehicle for an airport transfer. For your added comfort, an English-speaking assistant will help you to check in to your hotel, walk you through your travel documents, and answer any questions you may have.

A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

Angleterre Hotel is located next to the St. Isaac's Cathedral in the heart of St. Petersburg, and is only 5 minutes from Nevsky Prospect. Many of the main attractions of the city are close to the hotel, such as the famous Hermitage Museum, Peter's & Paul's Fortress, and the many palaces and gardens interspersed throughout the city. Each of the hotel's 188 bedrooms and five suites are decorated in a style that combines classic with contemporary, blending Russian and European furniture and accessories. Borsalino Brasserie provides a stylish setting with an innovative menu of contemporary European food combined with fresh local ingredients. Day 2: St. Petersburg

With a private guide and driver, set out on a full day highlights tour of St. Petersburg to get acquainted with the main architectural and historical monuments of the city. Drive along the world famous Nevsky Prospect. See Palace Square, the world’s third largest square, with the Alexander Column, the Triumphal Arch of the General Staff Building, and the Winter Palace complex, home to the UNESCO-listed Hermitage. See the candy-colored domes of the remarkable Church of the Savoir on Spilled Blood, and visit St. Isaac’s Cathedral. The fourth largest cathedral in the world, the 19th century neoclassical St. Isaac’s Cathedral was constructed to host as many as 12,000 worshippers at once, and its enormous skyline-dominating dome was covered in solid gold at the request of Peter the Great. Experience the dazzling cathedral interior, and don’t miss out on a chance to climb the 250 steps to the colonnade of the dome where you’ll have a magical 360-degree view of the city. You’ll also visit Peter and Paul's Fortress, a Travel+Leisure ‘Thing Not to Miss’, and site where Peter the Great first broke ground for the construction of St. Petersburg. The citadel boasts a 400 foot bell tower, and became the burial site of many Russian tsars and nobles.

Day 3: St. Petersburg

Today you’ll set out with a private guide and vehicle on a tour of the Hermitage Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Travel+Leisure’s top ‘Things Not to Miss’ in St. Petersburg. Spread across four massive buildings, including the renowned Winter Palace, the Hermitage is comprised of nearly 360 rooms in total. The collection of Western European art, numbering over 600,000 items, presents the development of art from the Middle Ages to present, and is considered to be one of the finest in the world. Enjoy outstanding masterpieces by Old Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and Titian, and marvel at world famous works by Picasso, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. Admire the Military Gallery, featuring hundreds portraits of generals from the Patriotic War of 1812, and see works from ancient Greece and Rome, as well as early Eastern art. Be sure to mention any specific areas of interest to your guide for a tour of the collection tailored just for you.

Day 4: St. Petersburg

Take a full day tour to Pushkin, originally named Tsarskoe Selo (Tsar's Village), famous for the marvelous Catherine Palace and park. The town, also known as Pushkin, in honor of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, was the main summer residence of the royal family. The collection of the palace includes a large number of precious works of art, such as furniture, porcelain, statues, and canvases, including personal belongings of Russian emperors and members of their families. Visit one of the most remarkable interiors of Catherine Palace, the Amber Room. Your private guide will tell the story of the construction of Catherine Palace and about the tragic moments in the palace's history, connected with the Nazi occupation during World War II. Continue with the summer residences of the Royal family, Peterhof. The world-famous palace, fountain, and park are an outstanding landmark of Russian artistic culture of the 18th-19th centuries. After the tour you will return to your hotel.

Day 5: St. Petersburg - Helsinki

Meet your driver and vehicle for a private train station transfer. An English-speaking assistant will be on hand to help you with your connection.

Take the train from St. Petersburg to Helsinki today. Approximate travel time is 3.5 hours.

A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful, will be provided to you on your first day in destination.

Meet your private driver and vehicle for a train station transfer. Your driver will be holding a name sign near the first coach. For your added comfort, an English-speaking assistant will assist you at hotel check-in, walk you through your welcome package documents and itinerary, and answer any questions you may have.

Day 6: Helsinki

Helsinki is one of Europe’s most modern and culturally progressive cities, yet it remains in touch with an intriguing history stretching back over 450 years. Meet your private guide and set out on foot for a walking tour of Helsinki, discovering the highlights of the city like Senate Square, the oldest part of central Helsinki, with the iconic bright white Helsinki Cathedral elevated above the surrounding Government Palace and University of Helsinki. See the unique architecture of the Parliament House and Finlandia Hall, and admire the 19th century Uspenski Cathedral. When possible, you’ll also visit Temppeliaukion Church, also known as the Church of the Rock, with its interior walls comprised of the exposed natural bedrock which was excavated to supports its copper dome. Then, parting ways with your guide, you’ll board a ferry with direct service to Suomenlinna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and island fortress, dating back to the 18th century. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your private Fortress guide, to enjoy the beautiful nature of the island or explore the tunnels and Suomenlinna Museum. After about an hour, you’ll bid farewell to your guide and the island, as you board the return ferry for your return to Helsinki.

Day 7: Helsinki

Experience the rich culinary culture of Helsinki during an appetizing 4-hour food tour of the vibrant Finnish capital. Meet your guide at your hotel and you will be escorted to Old Market Hall and the outdoor market where you will sample local delicacies such as smoked fish, wild fruits (when in season) and local bread. Purchase souvenirs and gifts as you stroll around the bustling market. Enjoy a special buffet at one of the local cafes and familiarize yourself with the local food. After a delicious meal, your guide will escort you back to your hotel or you can spend more time in the area on your own.

Day 8: Helsinki - Tallinn

Meet your private driver and vehicle for a port transfer. Your driver will be holding a name sign near the exit from the ship.

Take the ferry from Helsinki's port to Tallinn. The journey will take approximately 2 hrs.

Starting your private city tour at St. Charles Cathedral, you will explore Tallinn’s highlights, while your private guide provides you with exclusive inside information of the town’s history. The visit to the National Library is followed by the Pirita River where the Olympic Yachting Regatta was hosted in 1980. Take a few minutes to admire the Olympic Center on the opposite side of the river before your guide takes you to the ruins of St. Bridget’s Convent. On the way back to the city, pass the Song Festival Grounds where every 5 years a 120-year-old Estonian song festival takes place. The tour continues with the Parliament building and the 100 year old Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, famous for its onion domes. With its interesting collection of coat-of-arms and tombstones, the Dome Cathedral, built in the 13th-14th centuries is well worth a visit. Two viewing platforms provide you with breathtaking panoramic views of this charming town and are followed by a visit to the Long Leg and Short Leg Streets. Back in the Lower Old Town you will learn about St. Nicholas Church before concluding your city exploration at the Town Hall Square. Entrance fees are not included.

Enjoy a full day tour to Lahemaa National Park. Created in 1971 to protect the characteristic North-Estonian landscapes and the national heritage of the area, and to preserve harmonious relations between man and nature. This was the first national park in the Soviet Union. Originally the area of the national park was about 440 km², but later the territory was expanded towards the south. Now its area extends over 725 km², 474 km² lies on land, 251 km² is the sea. Entrance fees to Palmse Manor House are included.

Trip Terms & Conditions

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
  • Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
