Day 1: Moscow

After securing your trip with Kensington Tours, you'll be provided with a Letter of Invitation for your Russian entry visa, along with additional important travel documents.

Enjoy an airport transfer with private vehicle and driver. For your added comfort, an English-speaking assistant will help you with check-in, as well as walk you through the welcome package documents, your itinerary, and answer your questions.

A welcome package with a city map, train tickets (if relevant), and any other touristic information that we deem you may find useful will be waiting for you upon your arrival at your first hotel on your trip.

Day 2: Moscow

Set out on a full day must-see highlights tour of Moscow with a private guide and vehicle. Have your camera ready to capture snapshots of the city’s iconic sights such as the historic Bolshoi Theater, the former KGB building from where the notorious Soviet enforcement agency once operated, and frame up a photo at the Sofia Embankment, with the imposing Kremlin across the river. No visit to Moscow is complete without a walk in the Red Square, the most famous square in all of Russia. Recognized together with the Kremlin as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll stroll this vast cobblestone plaza, gazing upon  the city’s most recognizable landmarks; the colorful onion-shaped domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral, the red walls and towers of the Kremlin (office of the Russian president), the Lenin Mausoleum, the State Historical Museum, and the famous GUM department store. Walk the complex grounds and visit the Kremlin’s Armory Chamber to garner an understanding of the impressive wealth and opulence of the Russian royals of yesteryear. Witness a remarkable collection of ancient State regalia, coronation dresses and ceremonial tsar vestments, garments of the Russian Orthodox Church clergy, artistic gold and silver wares, ceremonial arms and armor, royal carriages and more.

Day 3: Moscow - St. Petersburg

Meet your private guide and vehicle, and depart on a half day tour. Make your way to the Christ the Savior Cathedral, the tallest Orthodox Christian church in the world. A view of its stunning white and gold exterior is only trumped by look inside at its impressively ornate central dome paintings. Drive to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Novodevichy Convent and Cemetery, and walk within the white fortifications of the impressive 15-building complex. Cathedrals, towers, ramparts, and more, Novodevichy is a walk through Russia’s past, as over the centuries it has become the final resting place of key Russian nobles, notable authors and political figures. Don’t miss the frescoes in the complex’s oldest structure, the Smolensky Cathedral, which some of the finest in Moscow.

Please note: Novodevichy Monastery is temporarily under renovation and views may be largely obstructed during this process.

Day 4: St. Petersburg

With a private guide and driver, set out on a highlights tour of St. Petersburg to get acquainted with the main architectural and historical monuments of the city. Drive along the world famous Nevsky Prospect and view the Monastery of Alexander Nevsky with its magnificent Trinity Cathedral and the cemetery where Dostoevsky, Tchaikovsky, and other iconic Russians were buried. See the massive St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the fourth largest cathedral in the world, adorned with a golden dome which dominates the skyline along the Neva. You’ll visit Peter and Paul's Fortress, a Travel+Leisure ‘Thing Not to Miss’, and site where Peter the Great first broke ground for the construction of St. Petersburg. The citadel boasts a 400 foot bell tower, and became the burial site of many Russian tsars and nobles. Drive by the Summer Garden and stop in the Field of Mars with the eternal flame. Continuing to the third largest square in the world, see Palace Square with the Alexander Column, the Triumphal Arch of the General Staff Building, and the Winter Palace complex, home to the UNESCO-listed Hermitage.

Day 5: St. Petersburg

Today you’ll set out with a private guide and vehicle on a tour of the Hermitage Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Travel+Leisure’s top ‘Things Not to Miss’ in St. Petersburg. Spread across four massive buildings, including the renowned Winter Palace, the Hermitage is comprised of nearly 360 rooms in total. The collection of Western European art, numbering over 600,000 items, presents the development of art from the Middle Ages to present, and is considered to be one of the finest in the world. Enjoy outstanding masterpieces by Old Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and Titian, and marvel at world famous works by Picasso, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. Admire the Military Gallery, featuring hundreds portraits of generals from the Patriotic War of 1812, and see works from ancient Greece and Rome, as well as early Eastern art. Day 6: St. Petersburg

Take a full day tour to Pushkin, originally named Tsarskoe Selo (Tsar's Village), famous for the marvelous Catherine Palace and park. The town, also known as Pushkin, in honour of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, was the main summer residence of the royal family. The collection of the palace includes a large number of precious works of art, such as furniture, porcelain, statues, and canvases, including personal belongings of Russian emperors and members of their families. Visit one of the most remarkable interiors of Catherine Palace, the Amber Room. Your private guide will tell the story of the consturuction of Catherine Palace and about the tragic moments in the palace's history, connected with the Nazi occupation during World War II. Continue with the summer residences of the Royal family, Peterhof. The world-famous palace, fountain, and park are an outstanding landmark of Russian artistic culture of the 18th-19th centuries. After the tour you will return to your hotel.

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
  • Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
