Summer in Canada’s arctic Manitoba region is a time of action and renewal. Polar bears hunt on the shores of Hudson Bay and feed heartily in preparation for the coming winter; thousands of playful beluga whales gather in the pristine waters; the tundra is alive with wildflowers, abundant bird life and prowling wolves; and the Aurora Borealis illuminates the evening sky.

Your arctic adventure begins in Winnipeg with a privately guided exploration of this charming city to discover its historic sites, surprising architecture and vibrant culture. Bid Winnipeg farewell as you take off for a scenic flight up north to Churchill and Manitoba’s tundra region. Upon arrival in Churchill, explore the highlights of this unique town before checking in to the famous Lazy Bear Lodge. Spend a day exploring a remote area of the Hudson Bay coast to view polar bears swimming and playing in their summer habitat surrounded by wildflowers. Venture out onto the water to observe the thousands of beluga whales that call Churchill home this time of year before heading ashore to wander through a 250-year-old fort. Take some time to relax at the lodge before heading back out on the water to experience the thrill of beluga AquaGliding™. This exhilarating activity will get your adrenaline pumping by allowing you to get up close and personal with these gentle giants as you glide through the Churchill River on a floating mat. Spend your last day in Churchill on a tundra tour aboard one of the lodge’s Arctic Crawlers™ before taking to the air for your flight back to Winnipeg. Throughout this journey, an experienced team of local guides, pilots, drivers and nature experts will reveal the majesty of one of the last great untouched wilderness areas in the world from every angle. ... After meeting your private driver-guide at your hotel, set off for the Forks National Historic Site, Winnipeg’s original “meeting place”, to view its unique outdoor and indoor market. Across the new Esplanade Riel Bridge, visit Winnipeg’s French Quarter (St. Boniface) and the beautiful St. Boniface Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Western Canada. The Cathedral’s cemetery is home to the grave of legendary Louis Riel, the famous Métis leader and founder of Manitoba. Tour through the Exchange District, observing its exceptional collection of terracotta and cut stone architecture. This thriving neighborhood is home to an array of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries and Winnipeg's own theater district. The neighborhood's cobblestone streets and friendly pedestrian environment also contribute to its popularity as a backdrop for today's movie industry. Stop and view the Legislative Building, the beautiful homes of Wellington Crescent, and Winnipeg’s 393-acre Assiniboine Park, where you'll have the opportunity to walk through the unique Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, featuring bronze sculptures, porcelains, paintings and sketches by celebrated Winnipeg artist Leo Mol. Your tour concludes with a private transfer back to your Winnipeg hotel.

Accommodation: Inn at the Forks

At the center of the city where the Assiniboine River meets the Red River lies The Forks, a National Historic Site in Winnipeg.
