Day 1: Winnipeg

Upon arrival in Winnipeg, you will be welcomed by an assistant who will answer any questions you may have. Proceed to your hotel from here.

Experience a privately guided tour through Winnipeg, known as the wonderful city of trees. After meeting your private driver-guide at your hotel, set off for the Forks National Historic Site, Winnipeg’s original “meeting place”, to view its unique outdoor and indoor market. Across the new Esplanade Riel Bridge, visit Winnipeg’s French Quarter (St. Boniface) and the beautiful St. Boniface Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Western Canada. The Cathedral’s cemetery is home to the grave of legendary Louis Riel, the famous Métis leader and founder of Manitoba. Tour through the Exchange District, observing its exceptional collection of terracotta and cut stone architecture. This thriving neighborhood is home to an array of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries and Winnipeg's own theater district. The neighborhood's cobblestone streets and friendly pedestrian environment also contribute to its popularity as a backdrop for today's movie industry. Stop and view the Legislative Building, the beautiful homes of Wellington Crescent, and Winnipeg’s 393-acre Assiniboine Park, where you'll have the opportunity to walk through the unique Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, featuring bronze sculptures, porcelains, paintings and sketches by celebrated Winnipeg artist Leo Mol. Your tour concludes with a private transfer back to your Winnipeg hotel.

Accommodation: The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel

The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel offers a boutique hotel experience, conveniently located just steps away from the airport. Day 2: Winnipeg - Dymond Lake

After checking out of your hotel, proceed to walk independently to Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

Fly out from Winnipeg Airport to Churchill Airport before boarding a flight to Dymond Lake Ecolodge.

Upon arrival, your hosts will provide a tour of the lodge and get you settled into your room. A thorough orientation on travelling in polar bear country will be provided prior to any outings. This day includes a guided hike on the rugged and starkly beautiful coastline, an interpretive slide show featuring the wildlife of Hudson Bay, and hopefully a clear night for viewing the aurora borealis. Dymond Lake Ecolodge features an Aurora viewing tower for northern lights observation.

Accommodation: Dymond Lake EcoLodge

Dymond Lake Ecolodge is strategically located a quick 30 km flight west of Churchill, amidst the natural habitat of many Arctic creatures including polar bears, caribou, Arctic and red fox, Arctic hare, wolves and moose, along with numerous bird species such as snowy owls, ptarmigan and gyrfalcons. In addition to wildlife viewing at the Lodge, highlights include evening presentations by specialist guides and often northern lights shows. Your time spent at the Lodge involves mostly terrestrial travel in order to reduce impact on the environment. Out of respect for both the wildlife and the sensitive ecosystem they depend on, the use of motorized vehicles is kept to a strict minimum. At Dymond Lake Ecolodge, the boots were definitely made for walking.
