Day 1: Rio de Janeiro

A valid passport is required for all American or Canadian citizens, including children, intending to visit Brazil. It is recommended that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected departure from the country. There have been cases where citizens were refused entry for not having the six-month validity. In addition, all Americans & Canadians are required to have a valid Brazilian Visa prior to their arrival in Brazil, and the visa must be used within 90 days of issuance. Otherwise, they will be refused entry into the country. Please ensure that you apply for your Brazilian visa at least 20 business days in advance of your trip. Processing times vary based on the number of visa applications that are in process at that specific embassy or consulate at any given time.

Brazil has recently introduced an e-visa program which allows US and Canadian citizens to easily obtain their Brazilian visa through an online application portal. Your Destination Expert would be pleased to walk you through the process and provide support as needed (such as re-sizing photos). It is recommended that you apply for your electronic visa at least 60 days prior to departure to allow for processing.

For your added comfort, you will have an English-speaking guide waiting for you outside of customs with a sign with your name on it. Your representative will help you to co-ordinate meeting up with your private driver and accompany you to your accommodation.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro

This tour combines the historical highlights of downtown Rio with the modern attractions in the Porto Maravilha area, including the Olympic Boulevard. Beginning your tour in the Cinelãndia area, you will see the Municipal Theater, National Library, and the Fine Arts Museum. Transitioning from the historic sites of Rio to the newly developed Port area via the new VLT light rail system you will visit Mauá Square and here learn about the history of Rio Port and tour through new attractions, including the Olympic Boulevard and the famous Graffiti Murals by Eduardo Kobra. A quick visit to Rio’s Art Museum (MAR) will provide a panoramic view of Porto Maravilha. Next, visit Rio’s newest feature, the Museum of Tomorrow, which blends science and design to focus on sustainable cities. Return walking along the Orla Conde to the Square of November 15th (Praça XV) which provides an excellent view of the Guanabara Bay. From here you can see the ferry station, the Imperial Palace, and the Tiradentes monument. You will enjoy lunch (included) at the famous Cafeteria Colombo restaurant, a historic attraction popular with locals since opening in early 1900s. Toward the end your tour, walk back to Carioca Square in the heart of the city where you will be met by your driver for a private transfer to your hotel.

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro

Enjoy a full day private excursion alongside a private vehicle, professional driver and English-speaking tour guide to visit Corcovado and Sugarloaf. After being picked up from your hotel, the morning starts with a panoramic tour of the Rio beaches, including Copacabana and Ipanema, and the famous Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon as you head to the Cosme Velho district. Board the traditional cog-wheel train and enjoy the ride through the Tijuca rainforest up to the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. Continue through the city to see the Metropolitan Cathedral and the traditional Cinelandia Square. Enjoy lunch (included) at Fogo do Chao. After lunch, head towards the Urca neighborhood, to visit one of Rio's most iconic symbols, Sugar Loaf Mountain. Traveling on a cable car, stop on Urca Hill and then ascend on a second cable car to reach the Sugarloaf summit for breathtaking views of Copacabana Beach, the Santa Cruz Fortress and the beaches of Niteroi. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel. Please note: The sites visited may change depending on current traffic conditions, weather, street closures or other factors that may impact the tour.

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro - Foz do Iguaçu

Day 5: Foz do Iguaçu - Iguazu Falls

On this tour, one may get to the marvelous Brazilian falls, by walking through the wooden footbridges elevated over the river. Take photographs of the breathtaking panoramic views from the observation deck. A 40 min walk to admire the series of astonishing cascades up to the foot of "Floriano Fall". At the end of the path, an elevator brings visitors up. Crossing the Tancredo Neves bridge in the Iguaçú River, we get into the Argentinean National Park - a very nice ride through exuberant tropical flora. Guests are encouraged to get close to the falls, up to the famous Devil's Throat, the most impressive of the water falls, surrounded by deep jungle and different rare species of tropical birds and animals. A fantastic scenery decorated with rainbows appearing here and there, from the reflection of the numerous falls and the sparkling spray of their water show. Inside the Park, visitors may choose among several paths leading to exciting sights between the different falls, to admire them from above or from below.

Guests visiting Argentina from Canada and Australia are required to pay mandatory Reciprocity Tax in order to visit the country. This fee can be paid online upon confirmation of your tour. Day 7: Buzios

Enjoy some time at leisure to try some optional activities. A popular tour is the Trolley tour. Here, you will get to know the peninsula much better, visiting 12 beaches. Head out on a schooner tour, where you will visit the three most beautiful beaches of Buzios: Joa Fernandes Beach, Tartaruga and Canto Beach. There are a couple of stops that will present opportunities for swimming. There is also a catamaran tour that will take you around the peninsula of Buzios which is very relaxing! Try one of the locals' favorite activity: laying on the beach to soak up the sun and enjoy!

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $350). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 30% of program price. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
